I am sorry for what you are going through. It must be horrible. Maybe the psychatrist will help you with your situation? You gotta give it a go. Also maybe you should see some other doctor who could try other treatment for the gut problem? I wish you get well soon.

I've been going through stomach/ digestion problems for 7 or 8 years now. My constipation and bloating got so bad that I was constantly passing very poisonous gas in class, so I eventually skipped classes and almost didnt graduate as a result. The doctors I saw milked insurance money out of me with a bunch of tests, and then told me they couldn't find anything wrong.

My stomach and also a whole list of other debilitating health problems ruined my life, but I have found somethings that helps with the stomach. I don't know if you have tried these or not, but try eating a lot of very green vegetables, like spinach. Eat them as part of every meal, in large portions. Drink lots of water, and try not to overthink all this. Also very importantly, avoid trigger foods. Find out what foods trigger and worsen your symptoms and avoid them. For me, I found bread/ wheat, dairy products, and spicy inflammatory foods are my trigger foods.

I'm here to talk if you want. Just message me. I'd love to talk to someone who shares this awful thing.

I also suffer from gastro issues, and it took a long time to get some kind of diagnosis. Gets very old quickly, doesn't it? All the doctors who start to look at you like you're crazy. But trust your gut!

Basically I have gastroparesis, which affects my stomach, and IBS-C which affects my intestines. There's also GERD. I don't think I'll ever be cured, but if I change my diet and take some OTC, I think I can improve my situation. For the gastroparesis I had something called a gastric emptying study. I asked the woman running my test what the next thing would be if this test showed I was okay. She said probably pancreas.

When my gastro was in full swing, I had a hard time keeping any food down. The nausea was rough. Things I should do are to take Miralax, maybe probiotics and even peppermint. This is one disease that gets worse if you eat too much fiber. It'd be helpful to know if that's your issue. I also eat more than I should now that I can usually do so without nausea. There is a stomach pacemaker, but most doctors won't consider until you've been sick and lost a lot of weight. I also understand it's not that effective - hopefully they'll find something to manage our symptoms.

How many of the above have frequently used antibiotics? Also, did some of you have eating disorders leading up to your current issues?

@FriendofDeath There are two main types of fiber, soluble and insoluble, do both agitate the issue or are you unsure?

My stomach can't digest anything properly. :meh: :mmm: i tried all kinds of stuff too. Anti depressants make it worse for me. Horrible pain.

As far as I know it is all fiber. I am considering a more liquid based, pureed diet. I feel like I have stuff sitting in me all of the time, though I may only eat once a day. It has affected my appetite. I do not often suffer from the nausea as much. Used to take metoclopramide but it didn't seem to be helping to move food. I may ask to get back on it. My doctor recommended Miralax-like products. Unfortunately after my initial weight loss, I have plateaued. :) Was not a frequent antibiotic user for years.

Well, if that was his judgment then I hope it works for you. Have a little faith, it might be what your body needs :)

What was the reasoning for the meds they gave you? I'm sorry about your experience. The discomfort and pain can be overwhelming. Frustrating, too, when the doctor gives up. Do you have a follow-up appointment? Have they done any real tests on you like a scan or even the gastric emptying study? Are you losing weight? Seems crazy.

I'm sorry to hear about your options. If you get too dehydrated, are throwing up a lot or are losing a great deal of weight, you may need a hospital visit. I just don't see how the meds you were prescribed would be helpful for your gastro, unless they are convinced it's due to anxiety. Course, it could be the other way around and the gastro is making you anxious. Keep a list of your symptoms and when they appear, what you eat and how you feel once you've eaten, as well as your weight. Maybe this will show a pattern that will help pinpoint your issue. It's such a pain, isn't it?

I am not. I have seen a few threads where the OP planned to SN though they had gastro issues, but don't know if anyone has tried. I certainly think it might take longer to work and the individual would experience more pain if the stomach and/or gut weren't workin, especially if their stomach has a high acid content.

Not a surprise theres lot of gut issues on this forum, all stress/anxiety will reek havoc on the function of the gastro system, i suffer profusely aswell and good luck getting them to take some things seriously anyway like hiatal hernias etc even though they are a nightmare.

This is just my opinion. I do NOT have any specifics. I know in my case my GERD is bad - just taking my meds can give me heartburn. My stomach doesn't really work, and my intestines work in slo mo as well. I hope you get some other replies, so you can weigh your options.

I'm not promising a guaranteed solution, but I have some valuable advice that could remedy this dilemma. Let me know if you're interested since unlike most doctors I actually kare about you.

Spinach is literally poison with no nutritional value whatsoever. You don't want to deal with oxalate poisoning, which can be a lot worse than what you've dealt with so far.

I have IBS... I've written about how severe the pain was before on here. I said a similar thing: how can our bodies be capable of such pain.

I have a full stock of OTC medications. I use lactaid extra strength before anything with dairy, beano with grains and beans, calcium heartburn tablets if too much acid or spice. When I get a problem of pain/nausea/indigestion, I use pepto bismol, gasX or simethicone for gas and bloating, and finally I use Buscopan IBS 10mg pills for extreme spasmodic pain. These have been a huge lifesaver and I didn't have to change my diet much. I'm sure if I stopped eating cookies and rich foods I wouldn't have to, but sometimes I'll accidentally eat something and it didn't agree with me. Sometimes I'll drink kefir or take a probiotic like align if I'm severely constipated. I'm sure you've probably tried it all but just putting it out there just in case anyone else wants to know.

I think you need to find a new doctor because you need a proper test. Is it like diverculitis?

I recommend some of you who are having various gastrointestinal issues to read up on Butyrate. Question your doctor about it after you have done your research. There are many conditions, not all, that seem to benefit from it. At the time I was researching Crohn's Disease, which seemed to benefit greatly from it and was brought on earlier in those who lacked Butyrate. It also seems to provide a protective element which assists some with pain.

One of the reasons I asked earlier on about antibiotic usage as that using antibiotics can kill off useful bacteria that produce Butyrate, which is a short chained fatty acid. Antibiotics typically wipe out numerous beneficial bacteria that sometimes do not come back and likewise new bad bacterium can colonize, that were not there before. This is a fascinating realm of research right now.

Once again, I am not a doctor and the above is something for you to research to see if it is relevant to you and in turn you can speak to your doctor about it. Do not directly take medical advice from anyone on any forum without researching and talking to your doctor.

Butyrate sounds interesting. Those kind of guy issues have many causes, but disbiosis seems to be a common factor.
My bowel ceased functioning four years ago. I currently use polyethylglycol to help with bowel movements. It's gentler than other medications and you can take either an acute dose to shift an impaction or a chronic dose to maintain functionality.
I'm experimenting with probiotics and diet and I might give butyrate supplements a look.

Look into who funded such disinformation, the medical industry has been infiltrated since 1913 by occult antihuman bloodlines and thus can't be trusted. If spinach and spirulina were genuine superfoods, then vegans wouldn't look like the damn cryptkeeper. Trillions were only made possible by keeping the public in the dark for decades about such basic information regarding human biology & nutrition. They're far more wicked than what most people could ever imagine. Satan is referred to as the author of confusion for a reason, hence why they gave everybody so much disinformation. Devil means adversary, it isn't only 1 entity but millions of well organized rotten devils actively warring against life itself.
