I started psychiatrist medication and I wanted to ask a few question to those of you that have experience with this medication.

I was prescribed three kinds of meds, one I stopped drinking because it messed me up and made me really sleepy and drowsy all day long.

But I still keep drinking Sertraline. It hasn't been long but I've noticed a difference already, it definitely helps me with social anxiety. But it has reduced my sex drive and achieving an orgasm is really hard now, it makes me consider stopping it.

I wanted to ask, if you had the same side effects, have they resolved and disappeared after using the medication for longer or do they stay? And after you stop taking does sex drive go back to normal or is this permanent? I tried googling it but there's mixed information, I thought I'd ask someone who might've taken it.

Thank you, love,

—Alec.

It helped me, made me almost numb to a lot of things to be honest, but like you, it completely took away my sex drive.

Sertraline was a great medication for me, but unfortunately it does affect your sex drive... you'll find this with pretty much all anti depressants.
Id recommend talking to a doctor or your psych about this and perhaps readjusting your dosage.

I'm scared to feel numb. I feel a bit clearer with it if I'm honest, and my feelings aren't as strong but they are still there, it's a bit of a relief if I'm honest but I don't want to feel numb. Thank you for sharing❤️ Did you stop taking it? And if you did, did side affects stop too?

It didn't do anything to help me. It made me rage out on minor stuff and it made me sleep most of the day. It also helped kill my sex drive. It's been years since I've come off of it. I wouldn't recommend anyone to take it. Especially after reading how bad it can effect others.

I'll leave the link in case anyone is interested. https://depressionintrospection.wordpress.com/2007/07/06/the-zoloft-rageviolence-connection/
but if it didn't help you why are you still on it? You are saying it's been years of you taking it?

Yes, I think I'm going to have to talk to her. Maybe she can give me something just for social anxiety that's not antidepressants, and with depression I'll deal somehow else?

I said it's been years since I've come off of it. I'm not taking anything now and haven't in at least 2 years. I'm still suffering from the effects from taking that and other anti depressants.

I'm sorry I didn't understand right. Do you mind me asking what side affects still persist even after 2 years without using the medication? That scares me tbh. Is low sex drive one of the side affects that's still with you?

I wasn't aware there are many options if I'm honest. Thank you for this, it makes me a bit excited to try out other medication and see if I find the right one for me. I'm just a bit sad it takes so long to try it all out and see the affects. My next appointment with her is on the 12th of June that's almost a month from now.

Low sex drive, brain fog, anhedonia, and a few other problems. I regret everyday trying to get help. Trying to get help made everything worse. Antidepressants don't do that to everyone but a few people get that and worse. Just know when somethings wrong and work with your doctor to find out what works if you decide to go that route.

Sexual side effects are common with many antidepressants. These should gradually disappear when you stop taking the medication.
