Like I'm not Delusional enough to think I'm like a god in another dimension or some shit, but I've done enough derealization and rewatched lain enough times that I'm using it as a weird insane coping mechanism. I like to think there's another, not damaged version of myself I can just return to once I kill myself. I get to be happy in some sort of wired somewhere and if I could just get the balls to like. Kill myself. I could live out all my fantasies in death. I don't feel human anymore. I'm some sort of robot or puppet. Put here so my "Wired" self can stay rooted and happy in her other world. All my suffering has to be for something right??? I'm a fake me, and all I can hope for is the real me is happy.

Tldr omg I'm just like lain frfr

I never finished it but from what I watched it was REALLY good. Don't have the will knowing im so close to death. still listen to the soundtrack.

I hope for good after death but I don't deserve anything good. I'll just have to see on the other side. If true, I'd want my soul to be cleansed and have my loved ones be happy forever. I don't care what happens to myself

It's the same with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)'s concept of multiverse. Even nowadays there's a lot of people who just simply believe it, even though scientifically speaking, it hasn't been proven enough yet whether multiverse theory is real or not. I think people just use the 'multiverse' concept as just another coping mechanism. Nowadays, you often hear people say things like: "there is another version of me myself in another universe/parallel universe who is happy, living the dreams, successful, etc2". It's just so anthropocentric, & predictable, really. People believe in multiverse just to escape from reality. This harsh, cruel, cold, limiting, boring, unfair, absurd, chaotic, & depressing reality, where not everyone can 'win'. Some people win, some people lose. Eat or be eaten. That's just the reality.

It's a real brain chemistry-altering show alright. It's one of my favorites. I'm sorry you resonate so deeply with its subject matter, but I'm glad you could appreciate it too. Have you ever tried watching Texhnolyze (which is also by Chiaki J. Konaka)? Or Boogiepop wa Warawanai (ideally, after reading the light novels it was adapted from to get a full understanding of the story. And the original version, not the 2019 remake)? Kino's Journey is another anime that springs to mind. These 3 anime are incredibly similar to Lain when it comes to the atmosphere and the way information is conveyed. They share a similar "detachment from reality."

I wouldn't really compare Haibane Renmei to Lain in terms of storytelling, but it's a heartfelt and idyllic little tale that has underlying themes of self harm and suicidal ideation, and has the same character designer (who wrote the story for this one). It's a story of self-loathing and self-forgiveness. These shows might offer you a lot of introspection, albeit on different topics than Lain. They might end up meaning a lot to you, too.
