• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Schoolteachers are pretty hard to avoid. Do you wish you could have or are you grateful for their stewardship of part of your early life?

I got along with most of mine although a few were pretty strict.

I have some great memories with some of my teachers. Some because they were incredibly kind and encouraging. Others because they were just very good teachers and taught me a great deal. Others because they had a great sense of humour.

I've also had not so great tutors. Boring teachers, complacent teachers, others who constantly went off topic so, you really felt like you were learning nothing relevant. Teachers that got incredibly angry. All sorts.

I'm not sure even the worst expereiences were deliberately malicious. I don't have any deep scars as such from education.

That said, they make an incredible difference to our lives. They can absolutely make or break when it comes to confidence building. Especially with shy, unconfident children. I suppose that's why I've always prefered the kind, supportive approach. Not to say we shouldn't be criticized but, I think a balance is important not to totally decimate a person's self worth before they even begin!

The outside world is incredibly tough. Maybe it's good to build up strength for that- toughen people up. Still- go too far and they can feel as if they've failed before they've even tried. The best approach I found was teachers that tried to build people up, not tear them down.

I have no good memories of teachers, perhaps they are supposed to have some kind of positive influence in our formative years but at least I can't say that teachers scarred me. I only have negative associations with the whole schooling system and don't see the purpose in a system where I felt we learned nothing of value in terms of content. I only remember disciplinary actions of being scolded for talking too much (not that I even did) or not doing homework. I had no motivation to study or participate in activities and teachers did not encourage me either. All in all, a pretty useless experience with bad memories on the social aspect of school life, but I believe this is where my own lack of a healthy home life played a part.

Some teachers were okay (mostly the female ones in primary school and very few in secondary) but I hated most of them as I was scared of them being disappointed or angry at me and getting into any sort of trouble. While that actually rarely happen as I tried to get on all teachers' good side, I only really did that as to avoid criticism and punishment from them. They plus my dad have definitely made me have a fear of anyone in authority like police, moderators etc.

School has traumatized me quite a bit as I wasn't able to emotionally handle it and teacher definitely made that worse by putting more pressure and fear on me but I don't blame them as much now compared to when I was there as they somewhat forced to act that way cus of the system. I did want to kill some of them when I was at school tho.
