What do you think? More reasons to have suicide booths. Though the comments paint this as selfish

That multiplied his risk of suicide x10000. But this is stupid why dont you kill yourself at home? Reminds me of the German pilot that killed himself and all the other passengers that didnt want to die. Poor victims. So selfish.

I wouldn't do that. That's not in my nature. I understand the guy wanted a painless death. If I had to have a train related death. I would jump in front of the train rather than parking my vehicle. Though I wouldn't do this because it would give the train driver guilt. He would think he is a murderer, and become depressed. This comment is interesting though.

KingGage said "When you make suicide illegal, people start getting creative with how they die to try to make it as guaranteed and/or painless as possible. Which unfortunately can result in severe harm both to themselves and to others, since a lot of the most lethal deaths can put others at risk." I don't know what they were going with that. It had 3 upvotes.

Definitely would never do that but to me it seems like desperation. Just legalize peaceful way out, no one asked for existing anyway.

Living right by BART this tends to happen. Even last week they had to shut down a line. that someone wandered out into the tracks and was talked down. Month before that security caught a man who was almost midway jump as train comin.

Wiki says:
Ɓlvarez was allegedly suicidal long before the incident occurred. According to some reports, he had attempted suicide previously. In addition, he was a known methamphetamine addict, prone to delusional behavior. At the time of the train crash, Alvarez, the father of two young children, was experiencing marital difficulties. His wife, Carmelita Ochoa, filed a restraining order against him months before the incident, claiming he had become erratic and threatening to her and the children, and extremely controlling.
...
Police initially believed that Ɓlvarez decided to kill himself that day, but that he changed his mind immediately before the train hit his vehicle, jumping out of the car and observing as the collision took place. He was charged with, and subsequently convicted of, 11 counts of murder with "special circumstances". Police say following investigations indicate Ɓlvarez may have intended to cause the crash without committing suicide

I don't know what he went through, but I can't discount the possibility he came to the point where he would actually cause a crash with ill intent, or change his mind last minute. There's too many possibilities for me to make an opinion, and not enough information.

I myself wish to impact as few as possible with my way out. That's why I pushed jumping or train to the bottom of my options list, as those are traumatizing to innocent bystanders.

People that jump in front of trains or do suicide by train don't care about the aftermath of it. It's a message to society. It doesn't matter whether it's a selfish act. They didn't care and that's what they wanted to tell people by jumping in front of a train or parking their car where the train can hit them.
Society never cared about them so they don't care about what society thinks of them either.
