Have you seen videos of it? I've watched so many that it doesn't bother me anymore. But I don't want my family seeing it, even if I had access to shotguns, so I choose chemical methods.

There's no reason for anyone but authorities to see it. There's no reason to do it at home. Go somewhere else and do it. Like the woods for example.

The woods is just someone's backyard, you're not going to have much time there and it's someone's property

Firearms generally are going to be messy and gory, best case scenario would be to use a smaller firearm with a smaller caliber.
9x19 is a good handgun round, it'll still be messy with blood, but it won't completely make your face unrecognizable.
You could go with smaller rounds like .32 acp but anything else like .22 long rifle has a small chance of you surviving.

Well I can try to explain from what I've seen, it varies because shotguns use a big caliber and various types of ammunition and the way the pellets are release depend on the distance, usually they blow you up and your face blooms like a flower. It literally splits your face up like a flower but again it can vary.

I know what shotguns can do. There are real photos available on the web if you search them out. I'm just curious how this artist conceptualizes it might look like. Was it a realism painting or abstract?

Aaaaah, I don't know how to read, oops. I didn't see the artists image , I did search for depictions of it in art when I first typed the comment but found nothing of note other than generic stuff.
