A trans person took her own life. Eden Knight committed suicide because her family forced her to detransition, that means this suicide is the result of her abusive enviroment. This case went viral because of the horrific circumstances that led to her suicide. And it's not the first time this has happened, it's been happening for a long time.

Here are some snippets from an article talking about Eden Knight.

1679094411881

1679094469077

1679094513742

Her goodbye letter.

This is a very sad story. And it makes me furious because we live in a world right now that's very hostile to trans people. So many states in the US are trying to do the same that her family did to Eden Knight: trying to get trans people detransitioned, forcefully but with political legislation. And what started as a "concern for minors" has resulted in genodical efforts to "eradicate" trans people. Don't get it twisted, when people say they want to eradicate transgenderism and more and more people of the right have come forward with such extreme rhetoric, it means they want to erase trans people. They want to ban transitioning, as a medical procedure.

But it doesn't work. The science already backs this up. Invalidating the gender identity of trans people causes depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation and suicidal behavior.[1][2][3][4]
That means conversion therapy or detransitioning people is a dead end. Only a tiny minority of around 2% detransition in the first place, so there is no need for that. [5][6][7][8][9]

And you know, trans people have been telling you that forcing us to detransition is going to kill us. And right now, the US is in the process to create more suicidal people, just like Eden Knight when they took away her identity, with bills trying to ban gender affirming care not only for children but also for adults. [10][11][12][13][14][15]

And I'm saying that not just as the administrator of this forum but as a trans woman myself. You need to stop. I have talked to so many trans people in this community and it's always the same story. You're driving trans people into suicide and a majority of these suicides could be prevented if you gave them appropiate care and support and the people who end struggling and suicidal don't have that. If you validate and accept trans people for whom they are and if you give them the means to reduce gender dysphoria through gender-affirming care (including surgeries), that's the best we can do as a society to help a community that is suffering so much. It helps. Trans people need your support now more than ever. And look. When the family tried to erase the trans identity of Eden Knight, they killed her daughter. That was a death sentence. They failed as parents and I don't care what religious or cultural reasons they had to bully their own child into suicide, it's not okay. And I hope, if parents of trans people read this, don't be like them. Be better, they're your children and you should be there for them, as allies and not as their enemies. Thanks.

The empirical evidence is pretty clear, there is a strong scientific consensus in favor of trans people. Gender dysphoria is a real condition, affirming the identity of trans people and supporting them in their efforts to express their identity is the strongest suicide prevention strategy we have right now. And we know it's the only thing that works. Detransitioning trans people doesn't just not work, it kills them - literally. People who hold transphobic beliefs in the year 2023 despite the overhelming evidence debunking their bigotry don't have any(!) valid arguments and we need to make clear that hurt feelings and hateful opinions don't belong in a discussion about scientific facts.

And yeah I know, this isn't my first thread talking about this issue but it's important that we speak out, loud and clear. And I have this plattorm and I thought I'd use this tragic incident to speak about these issues again. Horrible things are happening, affecting so many trans people and it puts their lives at risk and we need to fight back. Thank you for the attention.

Thank you for this - it's disgusting to see all of these bills recently and just the way that transgender people are being treated. There's no excuse for it, never was and never will be. We're human beings and deserve to be treated as such. Eden didn't deserve this, she deserves better. Trans people deserve better. Once again, thank you, you speak on this situation incredibly well.

I think that if someone drives a person to suicide like that, then they should be charged with first degree murder. From what I can tell, Eden didn't want to die, but she was forced into a situation where she saw that as the only option that she had. It's fucking infuriating that trans people don't get to just exist without being mistreated constantly.

Awful. I think about it a lot, but being trans is one of the hardest things that could be bestowed upon people. I constantly feel sadness for the community. It's bad enough being born as someone that instantly sets you apart from 99% of the population (i.e. being born in the wrong body), it's another thing to be made to feel evil for it. At least with other >1% genetic circumstances like down syndrome, or disabilty, there is at least some acceptance and support that has been built. With trans people you are told by society to stop being yourself because society finds you scary. I think something has to be said to all the "iT iS JUst bEcAUse yOU'rE MenTAlly iLL" edgelords that despite all the trauma and societal pressure that comes with being trans, less than 2% detransition.

It seems like every week I hear about a murder or suicide of a trans person. This is heartbreaking.

Transphobes ignore the abusive environments that so many trans folk are forced to live in, and instead blame transgenderism itself for the suicides. It's like, wow, who could have known that constantly treating a person like subhuman garbage is going to make them suicidal?

This is brutal and heartbreaking. I couldn't possibly fathom the kind of mental anguish making a trans person de-transition would have on them, and she was so brave and strong to have continued fighting for as long as she did. Trans people deserve magnitudes better; horrible cases like these hurt deep.

This is absolutely abhorrent, and I completely agree with you. The rights and needs of trans individuals has very much devolved into a culture war issue, at least here in the states, and they absolutely need support and advocacy more than ever. Every time something like this happens, it just drives home the idea that a large portion of the population simply do not want to allow trans people to exist, and even those who -do- have the support of their immediate friends and family will continue to be psychologically injured and traumatized as a result.

I have a tendency to play devil's advocate. It's something I engage in a lot, mostly because I honestly believe the world would be a better place if more people were willing to understand different viewpoints, especially those that they do not agree with. However, having said that, even I cannot wrap my head around why someone would so willfully and callously reject the identity that someone they are supposed to love chooses and needs for themselves. Denying the meds was bad enough, but continuing to refer to this individual as a 'young man' even after their denial of her identity caused her death? It's sickening. And even if I could potentially work my way around to at least trying to understand their reasons, I don't want to. It just feels slimy.

I hope that any trans or trans-aspiring people reading this understand that they have every right to be able to live as the person they see themselves as, and that the denial which led to this young woman's death is both exceedingly cruel and horrifying. Nobody should be subjected to this.

thank you for speaking out about this. everything that Eden Knight went through was horrific and her death was tragic. her transphobic abusive family and the people they hired murdered her. what is happening in the world is a genocide of trans people and Eden was yet another victim

i havent been able to think about anything else. my heart is filled with grief for Eden's death, and rage toward the abusive transphobes who killed her. i only hope that we can get vengeance and stop this genocide.

It's just sad that most people can't seem to accept the fact that some people aren't happy with the way they're born, and if there's something they can do to change it, they should be allowed to.

Being born in a body you're not happy with is one thing, but then being demanded you fulfill a certain role based on how you was born (something completely out of your control) is even worse. I hope Eden can find a better life in the after-life, one where people are more than happy to accept who she wants to be.

Really heartbreaking, this kind of thing just makes me furious as trans people are forced into a corner by family members and friends, people that they should be able to rely on. Then once they take their life it's blamed on the transgenderism as opposed to the horrible people the constantly abused and belittled them.

It's sickening that this still happens and that her horrible family gets to just go on with their lives as if they didn't basically just commit murder.

Unfortunately, those rotten breeders aren't going to shed a single tear for all the cruelty they've inflicted onto Eden, on top of forcing her into a world infested with such a petty, violent, cowardly, and stupid species. They're too damned egotistic, prideful, brainless, and unempathetic to recognize all the suffering they've created and perpetuated. Very few, if any, breeders have the intelligence to conclude that if they can't completely love, accept, and support their offspring, then they shouldn't have any children. Eden's death and suffering exemplifies the humans' boundless cruelty, abyssal shallowness, the abject lie of unconditional love, and the minuscule empathy and compassion humans truly possess. May she rest in the eternal peace of nonexistence.

Rest in peace, Eden. If in any conceivable reality she would be able to read this, I would just want her to know I support her and that she was and is a real woman. I'm so sorry you had to be surrounded by evil, evil people.
I love being trans as in individual, but I hate being trans in society. My chance of being hatecrimed or even murdered is tenfold for being trans. At least I don't really make an effort to pass. I just look cis. But does that even change anything? I don't know. I have pins on my backpack, but sometimes I want to remove them.

And how transphobes will say transitioning will only lead to us realizing we didn't want that and become worse off. What bullshit.

I always appreciate these well-thought-out posts with citations, in contrast to the baseless conjecture that normally gets thrown around on this subject. Trans people are literally bullied into suicide just for being different, and the evidence shows in the demographics of this forum (autism is also very common here). I wish normies could really think about what they're doing and see all the damage they are causing. By the way, I'm tired of people using religion as a shield for their shitty beliefs. "Yeah I think LGBT people are subhuman, but that's just my religion, and you have to respect that!" No, I don't respect that because it fucking sucks, and fuck you.
