  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I am a huge fan of Philip Nitschke and I really appreciate his activities. However I think his Sarco machine is overcomplicated.
Most people will never be able to 3D print such huge building blocks, assemble them, install electronics, gas regulators, etc. It's beyond the technical knowledge of average people.
Moreover I think it's great that Swiss lawyers found it legal to produce and use it someday in Switzerland, but I am afraid other countries will ban it. I can't see a good reason why some countries can't even declare it to be a weapon, since it's a tool to kill humans.
What is your opinion?

You are right, most people will never be able to use Sarco, to 3D print such a huge building blocks, assemble them, install electronics and gas regulators. Sarco fits better in the suicide clinics.

The real goal of the the Sarco is to demedicalize the process of Euthanasia/Assisted Suicide, it will be the end of doctors controlling the process. No more doctors gatekeeping shit.

They are gonna use it for the first time next year, so the time is close.

Do they want any volunteers? 😉

Would any of you volunteer? I think it'd possible to test it safely even up to the state of blackout, so once brought back the volunteer could tell about the experience.

I would rather volunteer to do it for reals. The whole purpose of us volunteering is to escape our shitty life, not cone back to it.

From what I read the experience of dying in the Sarco sounds ideal, I so wish that I had that option available for ctb. At least to me there is nothing better than passing away peacefully. I would volunteer so I could finally get the peaceful exit that I'm looking for.

As far as I understand there is no gas regulator. They releases the liquid nitrogen to evaporate and it fills the capsule. It is different from exit bag. In the exit bag, the air in the lungs and inside the bag is evacuated as much as possible. In this method, there is no system to evacuate the oxygenated room air in the capsule and fill it with nitrogen. This is a problem I think.

I like the idea of having a machine that ensures a painless death for those who want it, but I'm not sure whether its use would ever be widespread. I wish I could die in the Sarco, but there's no euthanasia or assisted suicide available in my state.

It essentially does what an exit bag does but an exit bag doesn't cost like 20,000 dollars to print.
