• Hello Guest,

We will not be following or complying with the Online Safety Bill that was recently signed into law in the UK. This bill will not affect the operations of the site, nor do we have a presence in the UK to receive notice or fines that the UK Government may impose.

We would highly recommend that all users from the UK get some sort of VPN, and you should petition your lawmakers to let them know how you feel about this piece of draconian legislation.

What kind of rope should you use to hang yourself?

Classic style: Manila hemp rope. In executions this is prepared especially by boiling and/or stretching to remove elasticity and tendency to coil.

Alternatively: Synthetic fiber rope. Allows a smaller diameter to be used to handle the same amount of weight and have a lower amount of give to them. However, there is then a greater "risk" (or possibility) of decapitation if you're attempting a long drop hanging to break your neck. You might then not be able to use the state execution drop tables.

If you can't get hold of a rope, people have also hanged themselves especially in partial suspension with electric cables, towels and so on.

In hangings with no or little drop, I can imagine the type of rope having little importance?

One user with experience on hanging had suggested to me that I use static climbing rope, that is rope that isn't designed to stretch.
