Actually… sobbing on the floor

I'm spiraling and my therapist says I'm "dancing close to the line" of involuntary commitment. They recommend that I go to a residential program so I can just focus on myself and not have to deal with with regular life for a while. This is a huge ask as I have work, grad school, and close family that needs caretaking. None of these things can really be put on hold. Has anyone found residential to be beneficial long term? Is it worth blowing up my life? None of my family or friends know about my mental health issues and they would all find out if I did this. At least I've managed to keep my CTB plans to myself - if not, I would already be in the hospital. My therapist would be really pissed if they knew what I have really been up to.

I do not know you but by your message, it sounds like you could be spread too thin, and that's contributing to your struggles with mental health, and that is why the thought of adding another thing in to your life is too much…but your health….your physical and mental health are more important than money, learning, your commitments, even your loved ones.

If you lose your health, there's a chance you won't recover. and it will definitely make your life harder if you don't tend to it and treat it with the seriousness it deserves. If your family love you, they will understand you need to put yourself first.

I would take this very seriously and sit the person or people closest to you down and tell them you have something to tell them…and make sure it's face to face. They need to grasp the gravity of what you're dealing with.

Then..any changes you need to make to accomodate caring for your health will be easier and they are more likely to help by picking up the slack. You deserve to be loved and supported.
