• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Sorry, I really don't understand all this. Even if they did turn up, which I doubt, can't we just say we got rid of it as we changed our minds and we don't have it any more? THere are so many places to hide it where I live, no one would have a hope of finding it, unless they wanted to take the place apart to look for SN.

Anyway, as I added to my post, the way I purchased from DMC was through his Airbnb, so doesn't that mean it looks like I just stayed at his Airbnb in Ukraine?

Some great suggestions. I like to meet curing one, it seems like you don't have as much to have things lying around to support that assertion. Also I like substituting the sodium nitrite in the bottle for something else you could probably even use just table salt or if you want to get fancier use sodium nitrate. (Which is easily available because people are only looking for the "nitrite" and not the "nitrate.") I think they look the same but I'm not sure. But again, the cops aren't scientists!

If I ordered a legal product, and the police came to check in on my welfare, I would simply tell them that I had thrown the product away, due to a change of mind or any other reason. But that's just what I would do. That worked for someone who had a welfare check years ago in the UK because they ordered N. And obviously I would also hide that product in question in a good place, because if it's legal product there is no need to hand it over to anyone, I also don't see why it's the business of the police anyway to infringe on your privacy like that. A little bit authoritarian for my taste but again, that's just my opinion as someone who believes in fundamental freedoms for taxpaying citizens aka mentally compentent and autonomouss adults...

This post might be useful, talks about 2 totally legal uses for sodium nitrite

These are the two main "excuses" I keep ready for why I have SN, in case I ever need to explain it. They're both pretty believable and rooted in real, legal uses of the chemical.

Meat Curing

SN is a legit, common ingredient in curing meats—think bacon, ham, pancetta, sausages, etc. It's used to stop botulism, and it gives that nice pink/red cured color that meat loses when it's cooked or sits too long. It also gives that signature cured-meat flavor you get with bacon or hot dogs.

Usually, people don't use pure SN—they mix it with regular salt to make "curing salt" or "pink salt." A really common version is Prague Powder #1, which is about 6.25% SN and the rest is just salt. It's used for stuff that cures over a short time, like homemade sausages or bacon.

So if anyone ever asked, I'd just say:

To back that up, I keep a few things around like:
  • A PDF copy of Charcuterie by Michael Ruhlman
  • A printed curing salt recipe or a Prague Powder guide

Photography

This one's more niche, but if you're into film or darkroom work it makes sense. SN has been used in bw photography, especially older or experimental methods. It's part of something called a "reducer solution," which lets you lighten areas of an overexposed photo or bring back detail in high contrast prints. Sometimes it's used in toning or altering image tone too.
While most people don't use SN for photography anymore, some analogue and alternative process photographers still do, especially in historical methods like cyanotypes or Van Dyke prints.

If asked, I'd say:

To help explain that, it'd be useful to have:
  • A film camera
  • A download of The Book of Alternative Photographic Processes
  • A screenshot of a developer formula with SN in it

Some general things
  • Don't leave SN lying around in a sketchy bag or bottle. Label it clearly with something like "For curing salt use only" or "Photographic chemicals".
  • If someone questions it, show them a printed recipe or page that lists SN as an ingredient.
  • SN is totally legal in many countries for curing meat and hobbyist chemistry. Just say it's for food or photo hobby stuff—no need to overexplain.
  • Keep it smallscale. Nobody's going to question one bottle if it looks like it's for a hobby.
Hope this helps if you ever need to justify having it around. Both excuses are totally legit.

Also, sounds like the UK police aren't too bright or prepared for this so they prolly don't have a testing kit. If you are worried about this then give them something that looks like the sodium nitrite for them to not go empty handed. Problem solved...

In the letter it also mentions that there is no power of entry to a victims premises unless an immediate threat to life is believed to exist, So don't answer the door??? Or tell them to fuck off...
Glad my post is helping.

Has Anyone in the U.S. reported a police check for DMC SN ?
i chatted with someone who got visited in the US. they were not involuntarily hospitalized.

we also don't know if others were visited and involuntarily hospitalized because if someone is kidnapped, imprisoned in a cold room with "safe" clothing that provides little warmth, drugged against their will, and restrained, then they may be having a hard time letting us know they received a visit

the reality is some people who did purchase SN and were "on the fence" will now likely ctb out of fear of police visits and forced inhumane treatment. the police certainly knew this before they started their visits, but didn't care if this pushed people over the edge

the police visits will kill more people than they save, but police are always just about looking good, just like the mental health industry. if police and mental health workers actually cared, instead of just cared about looking good and making money, they wouldn't make involuntary treatment so degrading and inhumane

but apparently, the police own us and we are not allowed to die, we must comply with society's demands, even if we are suffering all the time, and if we complain too much or want to die, the solution is always drugs, drugs, drugs and more drugs to make us sedated and miserable

this place made me less lonely, i could talk to others who were depressed, and despite being very suicidal, talking with others who were miserable too and just having a community of people who were also suffering, without being constantly threatened with drugs and involuntary treatment, made me want to die much much less. and now the police have ruined that for me because i don't want to be posting on here if people are being investigated and harassed. i'd rather keep to myself and then one day ctb or choose not to.

i worry about posting this, because i worry this information will make it more likely you'll ctb, but involuntary treatment is so degrading and awful that i'm not willing to hide what i know from you. if police and mental health workers want people to submit to this sort of shit, they should make it less degrading, humiliating, and painful. But they don't care, and once you are in that system you have no autonomy and your opinions don't matter at all. Fuck all mental health workers, fucking hypocritical drug pushing assholes, with medications that provide barely any symptom relief and a side-effect profile that makes many long for death, but are very lucrative for pharmaceutical companies and doctors to force on the vulnerable and powerless.

you could go to the forest, get camping gear, just camp out for a month or two. you could also move to a new place and only pay in cash for living there and don't take a cell phone with you. you can also try to bluff your way out of involuntary hospitalization, but it could be for the 3 reports we have there are 30 people locked up.

i am deleting my account here after posting this, fuck these assholes who think people aren't allowed autonomy of their own bodies and that they own everything. i just hate them all so damn much, they are all religious pieces of shit who believe we need to suffer like their imaginary religious martyrs.

i say that as a supposed "pro-lifer"
Crazy idea: Can someone in the UK call the police and ask if this is true?
what would be the motivation for people to lie about this?

"oh, here's a zany prank. let's create screennames on SaSu... wait many months... then post about welfare checks occurring"

it would be a very convoluted plan, many of the people reporting it have been here for a while

the people who don't believe this is real are in fucking denial
I'm thinking this is only affecting people who paid through the AirBnb method. Around the same time DMC closed, AirBnb started refunding/banning accounts for purchasing from DMC. Here's a link to a post about someone getting banned from AirBnB. If that's the case, it's no wonder only a select few of British users are getting police visits; from what I've read, this was one of the trickier ways to have purchased SN.
this is completely naive and wrong, from what i've heard, it is not just that payment method that has been visited

if this person used 1 single shipping account, why would they only go after people who used 1 particular method of payment? i honestly wonder if you are a pro-lifer trying to keep people in denial. they will almost certainly come for everyone

The first person to report being visited paid with Neteller.

@needthebus I hope you don't have to delete your account here, though I understand doing what is safest and best for yourself. Just know that there are those of us who hear you and know exactly what you mean.

I think if you're gonna order, the best thing to do would be to get it sent to a PO box.
