Renting a cabin in the woods?

I read a lot about renting hotel rooms on this forum and sometimes air bnbs. But my plan is to get a cabin in the woods and take my noose and shotgun. They cost about the same as a hotel and are more isolated with less chance of people hearing and calling the squad. I guess my question is: why don't I hear more discussion of renting an isolated cabin in the woods for a few days? I think it's the perfect solution for those of us who have the means and the mobility

Probably hear about hotel rooms more than cabins in the woods because of the avg individuals location and proximity on here. There isn't a single cabin nor are their acres of woods where i am, so that would be hard for me to do so, unless i wanna drive or uber and travel somewhere where there is.

I'd have to drive for about an hour and a half, but I do that regularly for work so I guess I'm a different case than many here

Yeah i would do that if i could drive, but i dont know how to drive lol. I just take the bus or uber to school and wherever, and the commutes like 2 hours just to get to school everyday. sucks to live in the inner city :(

That's funny, I always glorify the urban life and want to move closer to it. I guess the grass is always greener. Two hours to school every day sounds absolutely terrible

Well, I have thought about this myself. I believe that a cabin would be much nicer than a hotel room. I guess the isolation would also be a plus. But as someone else suggested, woods and forests are not evenly distributed. Some people live in urban areas where a hotel would be significantly easier to access than a "cabin in the woods". I personally would have to travel at least an hour to get anywhere near a forest or woodland area. Yet I can get a hotel room 10 min from where I live. I'm no real estate agent, but im gonna guess that it's easier to get a hotel room, than find & rent a secluded cabin in the woods.

dude.. 6am everyday to catch the 6:30 buses and trains.. early morning traffic in a fricken city like toronto.. then 2 hours to school for classes, then 2 hours to come back. like its literally hell. no like i absolutely love the urban life and the inner city, but transportation in major cities is a problem. I think id be 50000x depressed if i lived somewhere other than the urban areas, its just not me.

My plan was woods - tent or cabin. I agree with how much nicer it is and I'm fortunate enough to live somewhere that has that option available for me

Hmm this makes me wonder about the distribution of ss members. How many have cars? How many live in rural, urban, and suburban areas? I've been on forums where they'd do a forum wide survey on numerous demographic components and this conversation has me wondering. I get this forum is more private for obvious reasons but still

Respectfully, I think some of the replies are taking the "in the woods" part a little too literally. While I've only traveled within the US every state I've been to has had some form of isolated areas including, but not limited to, forested areas.

I think renting a place is a great idea compared to a hotel if a person's chosen methods is likely to make noise such as gunshots. An alternative to cabins but still remote is the idea of renting an RV. There are TONS of areas (at least in the US) that allow people with RVs to pay like you would for a hotel and park. I'm figuring a single car might draw more suspicion from police, neighbor watch, or just people who are overly aware of things out of the norm. An RV is EXPECTED to move around and pull over at strange places. In fact you could probably find an RV spot near major highways which could help drown out any sounds.

Well, im in the inner city of Toronto, the GTA area. Theres literally nothing of some sort of like cabin in some terrain or forest. Its way too urban. Id likely have to travel up south. but its not like ill need a cabin or something heavily isolated if i wanted to ctb as id be doing SN or N.

I've never been to Toronto, but lived most of my life just 45min from NYC and often visited friends literally on the other side of the GWB and most NYC residents had no clue how close isolated areas were. Same situation when I lived just outside of San Francisco. Certainly in big cities themselves would be difficult to find truly isolated places that are not usable for reasons (just one example) like they are frequented by addicts and therefore police, but every major city has suburbs and I've never seen a suburb without at least one or two places, so maybe you just haven't found one yet??

oh, nah were not arguing, just a discussion obviously. Yeah maybe i havent found that suburb, but generally these suburbs are located on the outskirts of these major cities. And i literally cant drive, so that ruins any plans of transportation lol.

I know we're not arguing but I wasn't sure if I was coming of right, esp with writing not having a tone of voice. Plus I'm new here and want to send good vibes but sometimes that doesn't come across right

Yeah I think technically suburbs have to be on the edges of big cities

I can't drive either or really go even to the sidewalk alone since I need a walker plus I have narcolepsy and fall asleep at the wheel very easily. But if the reason that you don't drive is by choice, or that you never learned, or you just don't have access to a car I'm sure there's mass transit of one kind or another IF you wanted to go somewhere isolated. If it's a physical issue that keeps you from driving that's a whole other issue :(
