Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

We all know that even the most effective CTB methods sometimes fail. I'm interested in CTB methods that provide a back-up in the event that the primary method fails. Here's my idea:
  • Firearms are the most effective, and shotguns are the most effective of all firearms. Therefore, this would be the primary method I would use.
  • With firearms, the key is to be somewhere that is rural and remote. If someone is around and you get rushed to a Level 1 trauma center, there's a pretty decent chance that you survive. You want a combination of both factors: 1) somewhere remote enough that there probably won't be people around, and 2) also far enough from a trauma center that even if someone happens by, they can't get you to a major hospital in time for it to make a difference.
  • If someone follows the steps above, they're already extremely likely to have a successful CTB. We can debate whether it's above 95%, 99%, etc., but the odds are already stacked in their favor.
  • But to ensure an even greater chance of success, my proposed method involves drowning as a backup. I would find a body of water in a rural area and lean over it while using the shotgun. It doesn't seem like it would be hard to use my body position and the directional pressure of the shotgun to ensure I fall into the water. Even if something went wrong with the shotgun (i.e., I didn't hit the brain stem), I would drown following the gun shot.
Feedback on this proposed method? I think redundancy is the key, and I'm surprised this doesn't get discussed more. Do others have similar ideas for redundant methods that increase the odds of successful CTB?

Same here. Whether it'd be a gunshot + drowning or gunshot + hypothermia, etc. I think having that extra piece in there just to be sure is a good idea. I definitely wouldn't want to be found after an hour and get rushed to a hospital and somehow survive. Even if you survive the gunshot you're either gonna be unconscious or your brain is going to be so damaged you might as well be unconscious. Redundancies should be discussed more, because so many people like myself fail because we didn't have that extra piece.

I hadn't thought of gunshot + hypothermia---that's worthy of consideration.
