The easy to bandwagon tweets continue:

A website that provides information and directions for ending one's life draws 6 million page views a month worldwide - four times as many as the U.S. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. https://to.pbs.org/3DZJWoV

my question is, if this website can handle 6 million page views per month worldwide and four times as many as the national suicide prevention lifeline,

Doesn't the math tell you the suicide hotlines are not serving the need? It's the first thing that comes up when you Google the word suicide. Call volumes are increasing and the call center directors in article after article talk about being understaffed. Yet suicide numbers continue to go up? Doesn't this say that somehow the "seek help call the hotline" thought is not working? For a whole lot of people? Maybe what we are facing is horrible untreatable problems that a hotline discussion can't help.

I agree with you. Throwing the suicide hotline everywhere just for the sake of it or to cover peoples backsides isnt going to help. People need to realise that not all illnesses - including mental illnesses ,are not all treatable.. some people are just not cut out for this life and people should accept the reality of that even tho its hard.. if people really wanted to help maybe they should try looking at systemic issues.. people off themselves for a number of reasons ie health problems (physical/mental) ,poverty ,lack of support ,lack of understanding and acceptance and the list can go on.. no one thinks for a second and say "Hey. Maybe if we did THIS different as a society maybe itll help people to want live longer" but no you won't see that happening. For centuries people have always been to quick to judge and assume.. racism ,oppression ,discrimination.. if you are gay you had to hide it.. if you are autistic oh you must be dumb and retarded.. society always says "Dont judge a book by its cover" yet here we are - nearly 2022 ,and STILL being judged. STILL stigmatised and stereotyped. As if we'd fall apart by the slightest of your words when we are already broken. Theres more to the story. OUR story. That's why there's 2 sides to a coin. Our opinions on the matter should ALSO be looked at. Not just theres. Getting rid of a forum that helps people like us IS NOT suicide prevention and if anyone thinks otherwise is living in a delusional world.

They don't care about suicidal people, they just talk over suicidal people. Not a mention of maybe why we are here, what the site provides that is lacking elsewhere - what solutions they can come up with to provide what we like about this site in a (as they would say) "safe" way. These people are disgusting.

Or are we evil sickos that prey on vulnerable people online? Because last time I checked, once someone dies on here they become a victim, but when they're participating in the website they're "sick"?

I've recently called a crisis line and all they did was try to get my name and address... No attempt to talk to me at all. Every question was calculated and aimed at getting me to admit I wasn't "safe" so they could send dispatchers.

All I wanted was someone to talk to.

Telling someone to just use a suicide hotline is the equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears screaming "LA LA LA LA LA" just to ignore the situation at hand. That's all anyone does when they write this kind of schlock or when they read it and agree with it all. Just doing the best they can to filter out all the relevant common sense that goes on around them whilst continuing to live in their own perfect little world where they're always right.
