I recently purchased SN. After the transaction went through, the website I purchased it from emailed me to provide a statement of intended use for SN. They said it didn't have to be detailed or formal.

I came up with the best reason I could but now I'm starting to worry that my reasoning wasn't good enough. Especially for lab grade SN.

Can anyone help me come up with a good reason to purchase SN?

SN is used in food processing, especially to treat meat.

ofc lab grade SN would have to be mixed with NaCl so there's only a very low amount of SN in the food. Just for info!

I basically said that my husband is a hunter and we use it to cure the meat he comes home with. I wish I thought about it more before coming up with something like that.

Honestly, it seems like the most sensible reason to give as an individual !

That really makes a lot of sense. I would only think of experimenting with meat curing for a food startup company lol

I am a worrier by nature, so perhaps that doesn't do me any good in this situation, but I spent the better part of last night thinking about this… here are my thoughts (and sorry for if I'm just making you more worried, I'm just trying to be practical..?)

Curing meat only requires a SN mix of 6.25%, which around here is readily available in grocery stores and online. I don't think if anyone came knocking or asking they would believe I searched the far reaches of the internet for something that most places are trying to ban and paid high shipping fees for a 99% grade product when I only need a 6% product.

I suppose you could say that you wanted to try to make your own mix, especially if it was just for a questionnaire on a website and not for a wellness check. I just wouldn't know about the practicality of that.

I'm not planning on having anyone come knocking to ask, I think it is mostly just me being paranoid because I'm not used to lying or being sneaky, but if someone does I'm going to say that someone suggested it for a sewage backup (with link provided) and I bought it on impulse, but once I found out about the toxicity it got me worried enough to just discard it and try something else.

But you didn't know that. You just bought it from the first place that you found because you are new at curing meat 🤝

I mean, I guess. As a reasonably reasonable person though, I would realize that it takes me less research to find out that it only takes 6.25% mix to cure meat than it does to spend literal days or weeks to find a source for pure SN.
