Alice Wong died.
Alice was a radical, racialized disabled activist who founded the Disability Visibility Project, "an online community dedicated to creating, sharing, and amplifying disability media and culture" (read more about both here).
She described herself as "a disabled cyborg that has gone through another series of augmentations that extended her life until another system fails" in this interview.
Quite frankly, her wisdom and Disability Justice are among the most necessary things for a lot of the people on this website.
The amount of internalized ableism, the rampant self-hatred (and by extension, hatred of others) based on disability I see expressed here; it creates a strange mix of rage and heartbreak.
The below was her last message to us - "Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all":
