I have a lead on some relatively cheap 7.6 cu ft. 224 liters 99% helium tanks. I have two PVC tubing I can connect to the tanks (I can buy a third tube for a third tank if necessary). I know there's a lot of in's and out's to the inert gas methods, but is there any way that my tubing, the couple tanks, and a hood (still finding) would have a decent chance of working?

I'm sorry for the rushed nature of this post, I'm not in a good head space right now and I keep finding new reasons just to check out early.

Not an expert, but from my understanding, it has to be pure helium. 99% might be cut with 1% oxygen. If there's o2 in the mix, this will not work. Do you know what the 1% is? In preparing your tubing and mask, it would need to guarantee no air leaks, not even the tiniest little hole.

The website that I'm on (BVV) doesn't say what the other 1% is but it does specify that the helium is pure 99% "unlike other tanks that use 80%."

I'll have to check my tubes in a bit, just got them from the hardware store a couple days ago. Any recommendations for a hood/bag, I know it has to be airtight, don't exactly know what to look for.

Please make absolutely sure that the tank does indeed contain 99% helium. This website contains a really good guide on exit bags and most of the information you could need is already on it. As for the hood, a normal oven bag works. You would probably need a regulator as well. Good luck in your journey, friend.

Thanks, I honestly forgot about the regulator too. I'll have to review the mega thread for some bags but I'll look into oven bags as well more specifically.

Haven't checked yet but hopefully a regulator doesn't cost too much. As for the 99%, I'm leaning towards the fact that it is since the website im on seems to be selling industrial equipment/not party city-esq brands but I'll keep reviewing. I saw a brand on amazon that said 99% but I couldn't get a good look at the tank to see if 99% was printed on it and so I passed thinking it's probably false advertising (weird thing to false advertise ab but whatever)

Oven bags should do the trick, the megathread also recommends medical tape since it sticks well to the plastic. I ordered all of it on Amazon besides the tank that I am still saving for (pure nitrogen).

I found a great regulator for $30 on Amazon too, definitely not the most expensive part of the process. You just need something that can output 15 lpm. The tubing will come with it, normally. An exit bag is my method as well, and I am steering clear from Helium personally. Any helium that you find on Amazon contains oxygen, I've read all their spec sheets already. I have also read that even 1% could be enough to keep you alive and just leave you with brain damage. I'd rather go with nitrogen or argon since you can obtain it in welding shops. But that's a me thing, hopefully your technique works correctly as well.

I've been sort of looking into nitrogen but it seems a bit more expensive at least around me. Is there a certain percentage or mg/liter amount I should look for.

Sorry if these are basic questions, pretty new to all this. Went from wanting to ram my car into the side of a parked semi truck trailer to doing gases.

Don't apologize, I've only been researching this stuff for a couple of weeks at most too. I'm sorry you're in the same boat as me. For the amount, I remember the megathread mentioning needing 600L of gas, or 40 minutes of uninterrupted flow. Nitrogen is definitely pricier, I agree. What's mainly expensive is the tank itself and not necessarily the gas. I've been looking in tank rental for that reason but it ends up not being that much cheaper due to the safety deposit.
