I came across to the inert gas method through this forum. There seem to be different set ups:

1. One with a pressure regulator between gas tank and hose (like in this picture, except the hose isn't connected)
2. One without a pressure regulator, so a direct connection between gas tank and hose (like this one)

Which is the right one?
There is a documented suicide (linked in first post here), in this case without a pressure regulator.

So what do you need it for anyway?
Is it basically possible that the gas flows out at full pressure? That is my biggest concern.

Then one more question regarding diving regulator: Can I also use the second stage/octopus? Because the "primary" regulator didn't fit in the mask I bought (It's the same mask that the man who committed suicide in the hotel room used). It looks like he used the octopus, but I'm not sure.

Have you tried searching for instructional write ups, or videos from dedicated diving and scuba forums?

Well, I've watched videos about scuba gear and gas tanks, but unfortunately there's no well instructed guide how to successfully commit suicide with scuba gear.

As far as I know, it seems like divers don't use pressure regulators like in this users post, but they use the diving regulator, which seems to be a pressure regulator by itself - at least the first stage. But then I wonder why people want to use a pressure regulator while trying to commit suicide by this method. Is it safer to use a separate pressure regulator?

I honestly think using these gas methods is an awesome idea. I remember being in middle school messing around when a friend of mine stole a large green helium container. It was hidden in the bushes and we snuck out to start inhaling it for some reason.

It was the biggest WAM flat on my face I ever got so quickly, by inhaling several back to back breaths of the helium. I remember it kind of scared me at the time

The first stage in SCUBA is there to reduce the pressure from the tank (which ranges from 0 to 300 bar) to the 2nd stage regulator, which reduces it further to ambient pressure (whatever that may be). The octopus is just a 2nd stage with a yellow cover. Both should be compatible with the inlet of a full face mask.

Rigging a first stage regulator onto an inert gas bottle is the hard part: the threading is incompatible and needs a bit of plumbing. I'll let you do the research, but all the adaptor parts exist, and with a bit of creativity it's possible

Had trouble finding these adapter parts for US , do you have any advice? Other members having trouble too

@http-410, @job1315: the SCUBA method is an advanced version of the Exit Bag. Instead of having the inert gas continuously flooding the bag/mask, there is a demand valve that only releases gas during inhalation.

It is much more efficient than the standard Exit Bag as it requires very little inert gas; however, with the added sophistication, it is of higher cost (~USD1000 for new equipment) and with the added complication of the setup. This is the case as it requires 2 regulators: a pressure regulator and a demand valve regulator. The latter also requires a good-sealing mask that can be quite pricey.

I too have been looking for an integrated implementation of this method albeit with a smaller version of the SCUBA mask. I think the $1K is reasonable given its efficiency and compactness (less gas means smaller cylinder). Unfortunately, I do not have any leads to the adapters you seek. Depending on your region, I believe some of these adapters may be difficult to find.

FYI: escmode recently made an announcement of an upcoming product that's comparable to an exit diving mask you're seeking. I don't know: it may be worthwhile checking it out

Is escmode a competitor to Max Dog? In other words, they are in on the movement?

Yes, they are indeed a competitor. Perhaps, they will give MDB a run for their money!

Did you feel sick or anything before you went out?

No, I felt no sickness or anything at all really. Just went out like a light...
