Where do people get their stupid beliefs from?

I see so many young people indoctrinated into religious beliefs such as "suffering is not for nothing" and I think to myself these are the idiot members of the church that will grow up to prevent euthanasia in the future. I don't want kids or marriage so no problem for my offspring just that I/others can't leave here on own terms. No disrespect to the church, I grew up Christian and now hold respect for all beliefs but some of these beliefs can be harmful.

Shit man, I got all my stupid beliefs from the source as far as I'm concerned. I started getting weird visitors early on in my life...the King Cobra and his entourage in the night, the Shadow Woman who was like a warm void in the darkness, ErroniousEidolonous the talking soda can clock machine....

My therapist today asked me if living my best life could be a form of revenge against my ex-wife for doing things she shouldn't be, and whether the state of the world really had any impact on what is my best life, and after thinking for a moment...yeah it kinda does. I "live" here! As the Earth screams, I scream with!

I don't know in what specifics you mean stupid belief but I will assume its in the context of a fallacy. Of these it can broken into multiple types some being "logical fallacies", "formal fallacies", and "fallacies of unacceptable premises".

You can respect the rights of people to freedom of belief but you by no means have to respect the beliefs themselves. Religion has gone on far too long with immunity from criticism. We need to rigorously critique it the same way we critique any other ideas in the market place of ideas. There is no explicit condemnation of suicide in the Bible (this isn't an observation that only I have made, philosophers like Schopenhaur have too), it is merely a preference of the church on no solid theological grounding. Religion is copium, it is an easy drug to take to numb the pains of life and to avert the eyes from what reality could actually be (and imo what it actually is) i.e a meaningless void characterised by suffering/discontentment until death.
