I've found a possible source for sn. On the bottle it says Laboratory Reagent NaNO2 cas 7632-00-0 99.89% by hpcl For research and development not for direct use in food cosmetics or pharmaceuticals.

Is this what I need?

Im in th UK and worried about customs seizing it or the police arriving at my door.

I can't tell you whether or not you need it. Only you can decide that for yourself. Just make sure that it's nitrite, not nitrate.
