Question about hanging

How to avoid that airways are blocked at full hanging and one is suffering from suffocation?

Unconsciousness should occur, but what if not? Then one will die from suffocation.

I think the proper way presses on the carotid arteries instead of compressing the airway. I think it should be positioned on the upper neck but read geo stone book in resource compilation for details
