Discussion purchasing N in Mexico

Is anyone successful in purchasing N by traveling to Mexico? Is it advisable? Is anyone planning to do so?

Basically impossible unless you're a native. Big veterinary supply companies won't sell to you, small companies won't trust you.

No longer an easy task.
Well it never was to begin with, specially for strangers going there without knowing anything about the country.
There is the problem of locating the vet store and travelling there. That used to be the main obstacle.
After that, getting it used to be easy, you just waved around 80-100$ and they would hand it out to you.
Nowadays, it seems they have taken notice of what was going on and are now more restrictive.
So unless you live there, it's probably more trouble than it's worth.

Read in the latest PPHB about travelling 1.5 hours on a bus from Cancun to Valladolid and trying there, but also heard that it's getting much much harder for a foreigner to walk in and get it (even with the $100 bribe slipped to them when they ask for your prescription).

Have you looked into Bolivia or Ecuador? Heard Peru is also clamping down sadly.

Purchasing Pisabental in Mexico
Last month I went to Valladolid, that is 150 km from Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Went to two veterinarian shops. Both offered to sell me Pisabental, no question asked. Got one bottle (expire 2019). Paid the equivalent to US 40.00.
(PISABENTAL® is sodium pentobarbital (also known as Nembutal).
What about this?

So basically N is hard to get, yet not impossible. N is only available through veterinarian prescription, the prescription needs to have two seals, the vets seal with their license id and a state seal which is obtained at SEMARNAT which controls the usage of substances in animals and such. Once the prescription is obtained N can be purchased as little as $15 USD for a 100ml bottle

Tip: prescription may cost you from $25-$100 USD

How ever the easiest med you can obtain here is phentobarbital, it is still a barbiturate but takes a bit longer. This could be found without any trouble, but since you can get it without a prescription it is a bit more costly than N at $70 USD for 10g.

Extra tip: Meto can be obtained without a prescription here and costs about $5 USD

The reports i have read say it's anything from 15 min to a few hours. There is a very useful booklet by WOZZ (a dutch group). My version is Dutch but I believe you can get it in english. Downloaded it from somewhere, cant remember. It's written by medical people so the info is accurate. It also discusses some misconceptions, tells you the dos and don'ts, how long each method takes. etc.
