Getting admitted to a psychiatric hospital after a psychotic episode I had earlier and due to suicidal thoughts. Im really fucking scared. Why cant they just let me be at peace?
What was it like?I recently spent about 10 days in a psychiatic ward after my failed attempt, it wasn't the place for me, but it wasn't terrible. Obviously experiences may vary wildly but it probably will be less tough than you expect. I certainly hope so , at least!
I understand psychiatric hospitals can be absolute hell.Getting admitted to a psychiatric hospital after a psychotic episode I had earlier and due to suicidal thoughts. Im really fucking scared. Why cant they just let me be at peace?
Im not sure they will since I have substance misuse history on my records, specifically benzos :(just let them give you benzos then you should have a relaxed time. The UK ones give you prn clonzepam or lorezapan or some such. Then you can chill for a bit.
in my experience they don't read your records. They just take you off all your meds to 'observe' you. They generally will give benzos to calm you down. They won't prescribe them for you after you are released though…Im not sure they will since I have substance misuse history on my records, specifically benzos :(
In the UKI think what country you live in will have significant impact on your experience.
Yeah Im on quetiapine but turns out I should have had my dosage upped ages ago. Thank you I appreciate your kind words.in my experience they don't read your records. Did you try anti-psychotics? They will probably put you on those?
If you are scared (and in the UK) you can get a mental health advocate.
Psych wards are more boring than scary-as long as you avoid fights with other inmates.
Hopefully you will have a bit of a break from your life and meet some fellow sufferers to ease the pain.
Almost exactly as my experience! (in another european country) In my case I didn't find it helpful at all, but I saw other people benefiting. It really depends on the each person's situation/conditionI stayed in a psych ward in the UK for a few days a couple of months ago, the staff were mostly cool and I got on with most of the other patients, just avoided the ones I was wary of. Food was good. Night times were pretty rough as it was often noisy and hard to sleep, the days were just boring. I wasn't really getting any help and finding all the limitations a struggle. Luckily I managed to get let out, mostly through lying and pleading.
It might work out for you though
What's psychosis? What's the definition and what would be its symptoms? Was i really a psychotic episode or were you wrongly diagnosed?admitted to a psychiatric hospital after a psychotic episode I had earlier and due to suicidal thoughts. Im really fucking scared.
