So I'm currently in a psych ward, with 4 hours leave a day which can be extended to overnight. Perfect for SN method I think. I can go home and order SN (I'm in the uk, think I know where to order from but I'll make sure I'm 100% certain before I do) and all I have to do is take the powder with me into the ward.

Now the easy part, I'm given meds daily (trazadone and quetiapine). It's recently been pointed out in the new SN megathread thingy that quetiapine can be used as the antiemetic, so that's sorted (but if not I can ask for antiemetics). Secondly, I can asked for paracetamol whenever I need (which will help with any headache associated with SN). I can also request benzos and zopiclone whenever I need (so I could lie about feeling anxious and not being able to sleep). Not sure if many take these with the SN method to help drift off faster, but the option is there. The only thing I'm unsure about being able to get on the ward is the anti acid meds, but again I could pop to any chemist whilst on leave.

Being in a psych ward might actually make this method so easy as I've got access to everything!! Just need to get myself the powder. And once I've got that, I can just go to bed, take the SN and meds and just let it slowly take me. They check through a little window every hour or longer to make sure you're in bed, so as long as I don't fall out of the bed they'll have no idea what's happened until they come to wake me up for morning meds and realise I ain't alive. Also next door to a very loud patient who spends the night shouting and screaming, which so far has been a nightmare but again may work in my advantage incase I make any noises or have any seizures etc.

I feel so calm it's amazing, my anxiety has been through the roof ever since my method failed and I was thinking of having to do something impulsive like jumping or something which petrified me, but now I think I've got a great shot at the SN working
This is reassuring. The thought of ending up in a psych ward terrifies me though. A major reason for not disclosing to anyone.

So lucky. The US wards don't let you bring anything in really besides clothes that they check for ties and such. Def no shoelaces and checking pockets and strip searching. No phones or leave for a few hours at all. That'd be like a dream. They don't even let you have your own chapstick. Or coffee! They worry the caffeine will negatively effect patients. Fucktards

whoa! Can you tell me more about US wards? I'm in the U.S. too but I never been in a psych ward before so I don't know. What medication do they automatically give you once you enter there due to you harm yourself/suicide?

Man, wish me luck when I plunge 1,000 feet free fall to my death. If somehow I survived and be in coma, after I wake up they throw in me a psych ward anyways, so let wish I die from the free fall. This psych ward thing sound even more scary than death, no joke.

During the 'body check,' they make a note of every mark on your being — scrapes, bruises, moles, tattoos, etc. — that was on your person at admission. I never really felt violated because I knew it was standard procedure, but taking away my socks afterwards because they were 'too long' then handing me a pair the same length was laughable. I took both pairs of socks and showed the nurse, 'Look, same size.' And told her the thin, hospital-issued ones were more of a hazard than the big puffy socks I brought. Sometimes it seems they don't know what's going on, especially at shift changes. And why the F are they putting people on and off meds after days when most take weeks to work. The system is a wreck for people who want help.
That's ridiculous. Taking your socks ffs. I totally agree, the system is useless for those who want help and people can even end up more traumatised as a result. Makes me wonder about the doctors..... what happened their Hippocratic oath and the principle "First, do no harm"
Does that not apply in psychiatry?

They don't automatically put everyone generically one one medication. But if someone is in crisis or violent etc they do give haldol shots.
Strip searching? Holy shit.
Sounds like you retain more rights if you were admitted to prison instead
Yes, don't think I haven't been asked to bend over and cough, because I have. I said no and that was the end of it. Fucking disgusting
I watched a docu on a psych ward & some of the things people tried to do-i would never have even be able to think of! like when they are that determined to ctb, it was heart breaking to be honest.
If there's a will there's a way. It goes to say if someone is determined they'll find a way regardless

Do they check to make sure you take your meds - or can you stock up and stash elsewhere every time you get a pass? Because for as many people on here who've puked after taking sn, I don't think I'd chance it. I mean, if I was certain I wanted to ctb, a hospital would be the last flipping place I'd try it. Sounds kinda like jumping off a cliff with a parachute.

They give them you in little white cup things and usually watch you take them, but every time I take them I've realised how easy it would be to just miss one tablet and keep it in my hand or something so I think it could be done. Or if they give me a weeks leave like they have in the past they give me 7 days worth of each which would be enough

Assuming it meant victims

UK. There's a girl with about 60 scars up her arms from cutting, and a big one on her neck from the same type of razor. All done on the ward, she still has stashes of the razors in her room lol

I mean I'm replying right now with my phone charging with the cable... that could technically be used as a ligature, so could my clothes or shoelaces. I think it depends on how much of a risk they think you are. The More you behave the more more lenient they are kinda thing
I had my laptop, razors, shoelaces, my guitar?!, pills, chargers..loads of stuff in my room! They would just ask 'anything in your pockets' 'no'. Good through you come.
what I would say though it when they check you throughout the night I know it's a quick flashlight through the window but they are actually checking if you are breathing. I know this as I tried to hold my breathe once to see if the noticed and they did and came rushing in!

Well, there you go. If you're not sure you're ready then maybe stockpile the meds for later, since those would be the harder to get. Get the SN and put together your exit box. Sometimes it's nice just to have the security in knowing you have them - not so much a definite plan for taking them.

My 2 cents - not condemning the choice, but just personally I won't do it in a public space either. It's unfair to the staff, they will catch shit for death of a patient and there's so much that can go wrong in a psych ward.

Had prior experience in psych ward both local to where I am, and in aus. Not a fun experience, and it's one that adds on to my guilt level for being a liability to society.

Anyway, wishing you all the best in your quest for peace.

I do agree it's unfair on the staff. I know over hear, generally, they are doing their best given the poorly paid, understaffed circumstances and those who I've know are genuine caring lovely human beings.

I understand where you're coming from. I've ordered SN today via express delivery and once I have it I'll decide what to do. Most probably do it whilst I'm out on leave in the comfort of my own home, but that depends if my leave gets extended, if not I'm pretty much on a time limit because as soon as I'm not back at he ward at the time I'm supposed to be, they'll send the police

Yeah I know about the shit on sending police.. I got threatened with it when I'm allowed out during my stay in the open unit - be back by dinner time or the police will be sent out... wtf.

I was at the end of the car park so off the grounds by about 5m (and was informal at this point!) and they called the police because I didn't want to come inside and was sat in the grass enjoying a cigarette! What a waste of resources. They got me in the car (mind I'm on crutches and can barely walk) and drive me the remaining 10m to the door...
