Today I tested my SN, according to the "SN Bible". I don't understand why I got this result. I did everything correctly, carefully, unhurriedly. I should have done a blood test and tested the water in the second cup - these results satisfied me. The blood turned brown, and the square for nitrites from the 2nd cup turned pink. But the result in the first cup stunned me! The square for nitrites did not turn pink at all. Why is that? I don't understand. I held it for 2 seconds. After 30 seconds the results appeared. I used 4 strips instead of 2 just in case. Please, could you help me figure it out? I needed:
1. Digital scale for weighing
2. 1 liter bottle of distilled water
3. 2 cups
4. Syringe (since I couldn't buy a pipette)
5. Test strips for nitrites
6. Plastic spoons
I don't know if it's possible to post pictures with blood, but if it is, I can post them

It says on the strip that water should change the colour, but im not an expert. Are you sure is nitrite not nitrate?

I don't know, is it possible to test again using the same cups and new strips?

In cup #1 the square for nitrate also did not turn color. I am sure that I have technical sodium nitrite, 98.5% purity. Not everyone trusts these tests. My aquarium strips were cheap

I can do the tests again. But I don't see the point. Although, maybe I did something wrong in the process. I'm almost sure that at least 1 person died after consuming nitrite from this supplier. Have you tested your SN?

I received the distilled water yesterday, and then realised I need 500ml containers still. I should have everything to test this evening. I also have cheap strips (and the writing is in Chinese), so I'm a bit worried. I will let you know, thanks for sharing.

So, I have 3 nitrite samples and 2 types of test strips. My test strips #2 are similar to yours, just with the text in a different language. I looked at my results, and they vary. In sample photo 1, the colors are very intense, but it looks like the nitrite color starts to fade around the edge. In another sample (photo 2), in the first glass, the nitrite color also faded, and the nitrate turned orange. However, in the second glass, I always got stable and predictable results.

I think you're adding 1–2 grams of Sn to the first glass, which causes the test to max out and the color to fade. Try adding much less. In my tests, I add 0.62 grams to the first glass, then 2 ml into the second one, aiming to get a level 5 on the nitrite scale. The colors in the photos might look a bit strange due to the phone's auto color correction, but in reality, the nitrite color in the second glass was always at level 5.

I ordered 100% airtight containers from the marketplace with a silicone insert for 2 packs of SN. I wish you luck with your tests, keep us posted🫂. SN has no smell (I smelled it), it looks like it's wet, there are a lot of lumps in it. I was a little worried at first too. But I know for sure that I want to drink my SN, I just want my stomach to stop hurting, because I want as little discomfort as possible before I die

Thank you, you are very productive. I weighed 2.5 g of SN (I did not forget to subtract the tare) and dissolved it in cup #1, then took 1 ml with a syringe and added it to cup #2. But my nitrate and nitrite squares in cup #1 did not fade, but did not get colored at all. I do not really understand chemistry.
I could buy SN from another supplier and test it out of curiosity. But I do not think I will do that.
Have you tested the blood?

I just tested and I think the results are positive. Cup 1 coloured a bit, but not as much as Cup 2. Maybe it's something to do with the mg/L calculation of the strips which I don't understand? I also used the SN Bible, 500ml cups, weighed 2,5g SN (didn't subtract anything) and mixed it into Cup 1, then squirted 1 ml from that into Cup 2.

Result from Cup 2, if I understand correctly then the colour is equal to about the 50 mg/L mark for NO2:
1750074486401

Result from Cup 1, if I'm correct then the colour is more or less at the 5 mg/L mark:
1750074766921

This is the comparison between the strips where 0 = unused, D = plain distilled water, C1 = Cup 1 and C2 = Cup 2:
1750074975984

FYI, my SN is also odourless, texture looks like a fluffy powder, not wet, and without lumps.

I haven't done the blood test yet. Would love to hear your thoughts.

It seems your SN is pretty good.
I don't really understand either, but I hope my SN will work for KTB
