Pros:

+ Less likely to be found than anywhere else if it's properly abandoned. Won't be interrupted by house cleaning.

+ Relatively easy to find one

+ Cheaper than a motel or hotel


Cons:

- Runs the risk of being called in for tresspassing.

- May not have utilities if it has been abandoned long enough - I'd like to at least have electricity, and ideally running water (you might be able to find an unoccupied house for sale online that still has utilities hooked up).

- Might not be discovered for a long time if no note is left, which could be a problem.

For myself, I absolutely need electricity and would prefer to have running water when I go. Again though, there might be workarounds for these - you may he able to find a listing for a house that still has utilities online.

House with utilities are not abandoned house, if you thinking about some house which is listed for renting and buying, don't do that

Those houses are always said to have an eye on by the neighbors!

Yeah, if they're set on abandoned houses, better make sure it's completely decrepit too. Any chances the place is still watched or listed is just asking for complications.

Please don't ctb in someone's for-sale house.

Even though the house is "unoccupied," it is still someone's home. The owners may be unable to sell their home due to the ctb stigma, or they may be forced to re-list at a significant price drop.

Motels provide power and water. Since it's not a residential property, it's socially acceptable.


If you don't have a place, go to the Dollar Store and get some water jugs and candles, then head to the woods.

If you want to be located, mail a letter or text timed messages to the police with your whereabouts.
