They killed me at seven, I just didn't know it- Me
Dec 15, 2021

This happened to me, I was just a hyper and imaginative kid (ADHD) and instead of learning how to work with me they stuffed poison down my throat and destroyed my brain. I am 39 and have finally found out why ive been fucked up my whole life. Ritalin and Adderall are like Cocaine and these "medicines" permanently damage a childs brains ability to uptake Glutamate, which causes life-long treatment resistant depression, anger issues, OCD, anxiety disorder, and even psychosis. If you took these things as a kid, look at the links above and after reading the articles read the comments to see if other peoples stories match yours.

I relate to this post so much.I was prescribed prozac based on a 15 min visit by my psychiatrist while I was just 13 years old.I had to take it for 5 years until I stopped. I felt it exacerbated my issues, and made me over-all worse than before. What hurts me the most is that my psychiatrist is winning awards for her outstanding work in medicine while Im struggling from her issues. This is the same psychiatrist who sent a 14 year old into a psych ward

It is pure laziness and barbarity to prescribe these powerful poisons to a still developing mind. We don't know nearly enough about the brain to be fucking with the paint before it's dry. I feel you.

I worked in pharmacy as a tech for years and I hated giving these meds out to kids. Not to be stereotypical but it was typically kids in troubled homes. They needed a healthier environment. I always wonder what outdoor and creative stimulation for their active minds and some good mentors would do, not powerful drugs in their tiny developing body. God forbid kids can't sit silent for 8 hours a day in boring and overstuffed classrooms.

Yes, that is exactly why I was prescribed this garbage. My teacher didn't like the fact that I squirmed in my seat and stood up in class, I wasn't disrespectful, aggressive or disruptive. So she told my Mother about Ritalin and ADHD, so my mother bought it and went to a "Dr." who had no problem prescribing a seven year old brain changing meds. No attempt was made to figure out alternative ways of dealing with my "issues."

It's terrible how easily physicians prescribe (and parents allow) children to take psychiatric drugs. We hardly understand how the brain works, and on top of that we hardly have an understanding of how these drugs work! We base our knowledge of these medications off of observation alone. This leads to the general public being the guinea pigs of the long term effects of these drugs (kids included), and it's vile.

I'm extremely sorry that this happened to you. I relate very closely to you, because although I didn't take a psychiatric medication, I was prescribed a drug during my teenage years that absolutely wrecked my body.

I'm 62, and have looked at my report cards from the mid to late 60's. I was always an A/B student, but in the teacher's comment section they would write about how I would finish my work early and fidget and sometimes walk around the classroom. So glad that stuff wasn't around back then.

I fetched my old report cards A few examples:

L. has not been paying attention as much as he should.

L. sometimes finishes his work hurriedly and then likes to play around. He gets out of his seat a lot.

L. needs to discipline himself more in keeping up with his work and staying in his seat.

L.'s work is good, but he has a lot of nervous energy.

(End of school year) I have enjoyed L. this year. I hope he will gain more confidence in himself.

1968-69 school year Grade 3.

Wow man, sounds like you had a teacher with their head screwed on right and actually gave a damn. Wish I had grown up then.

If I had my report cards I bet they would say the same , except with footnotes from the teacher saying I need to be medicated for ADHD.

Just so you know CCHR is a scientology front group

But yeah these things do form lifelong dependence where if people try to come off them as adults, even after years they might not "bounce back" to their previous capacity for producing their own neurotransmitters. And regardless even without that, any altering people's heads without consent is fucking evil.

Psychiatry is akin to a Pseudo-scientific field. There is just nothing but guesswork and trial and error. Can you imagine if actual doctors worked like that? "Hmm, Mr. Johnson, it seems you have a cough and a slight fever today so you could have a common cold or appendicitis, however, we have no way of actually testing you for either of these things so we're just gonna go ahead and remove that appendix and see what happens."

Nope, nobody is being held accountable. They are still prescribing this shit to kids even though there is clear proof of permanent harm. Was the drug they gave you Ritalin as well?

Yes, I hated it even though it wasn't that long. It makes no sense on how they tell kids not to drink alcohol, smoke and illicit drugs, but then turn around and give pills to preschoolers that would eat anything that happened to look like candy.

Were you yourself before and felt like somebody else after, like you lost something about yourself or that you changed into somebody you didn't like? Do you have issues with anger, depression, anxiety, and OCD? How long were you on it? Sorry for so many questions, I'm just trying to see how similar our experiences were.

My youngest brother was diagnosed with ADHD, bipolar disorder and Aspergers at 8 years old. So he was given this medication along with Risperdal which was another controversial one and among other ones. I think he was hyperactive, but never thought to the extent that he deserved all these medications and labels at such a young age. I also think it messed up his upbringing. My other brother was also given lithium at 11 years old. And I was also constantly tried to be medicated since preteen but had troublesome fights to not be.

I think a lot of people in the medical industry just sit and listen to the parents without considering parents might be lying and the children are growing up in a toxic environment. I think all of our problems were because of our environment. And instead of being helped, we were just sedated to deal with it.

Wow, sounds like you and your brothers had it pretty rough. Wish these "Doctors" would take a moment and ask the kids what they think of the meds they are taking. Maybe having the perspective of the lab rats is not important to them though. Btw, I don't mean to pry but is that profile picture actually you? If so I hope you don't mind me saying you are very beautiful.

I'm so sorry. Its bad enough giving psychiatric meds to anyone let alone tiny children. All involved with the creation and distribution of psych meds need a monumental punishment. Something that would prevent anyone from following that path again out of shear terror that they would meet the same fate.

I have no doubt Ritalin and any other medication created for anxiety and depression are too strong for long time use.

I think it's more meant for short periods.

But even then, I don't think they're harmless.
