It finally occurred to me why standard suicide prevention organizations alienate me so deeply.
Once a "professional" here's that one of us is contemplating suicide, the focus shifts from our issues to theirs.
Suddenly, there is a mad scramble to save their license, avoid getting sued, protect their agency, and any other way to cover their ass.
There is no caring, no hearing, no validation, and suddenly those of us in unbearable pain are dismissed and invisible again.
It's all about the professional, and all about the agency and saving their own skins, and we feel the shift.
This deeply enhances, the loneliness of living with the need to ctb.
Sorry, I didn't proof this. Meant to write, hears.

I completely agree. It's ironic that the same medical "professionals" that talk about destigmatizing mental illness will be the first ones to lock you up when you talk about suicide. They tell you they're only there to help yet they've made everyone afraid to even dare mention the issues that are affecting them the most.

I actually never really thought about this before- but it makes complete sense. Because at the end of the day, these are still organizations that can fall under the same legal liability as anything else. Individuals who successfully CTB can ultimately be very much seen as a liability to that company. Thinking about it this way, I'm not even sure if there are any legitimate efforts out there that don't come with some sort of catch. Huh.

This is why to me, it's for the best not to open up about suicide at all in this anti choice society. It sounds horrific being tortured in a psych ward, I wish we existed in a world where we could be open about the perfectly logical choice that is suicide and then just have the option to pass away in peace without risks, complications and the fear of other people interfering and just prolonging the suffering. And anyway any of the "help" is just a scam to profit from suffering people, those so called professionals could never care, they just want money. As humans we are certainly all alone.

There's a book on this. "Disciplined Minds". Its subtitle is "a critical look at salaried professionals and the soul-battering system that shapes their lives". A classic

Suicide prevention is senseless anyway, it's just an excuse to persecute and abuse the rights of suicidal people. It's horrific how far these organisations go to abuse people just for wanting to escape this world of suffering, and I have read all too many accounts of the horrors that are done in psych wards. As for the professionals, you are right of course that they don't care for their patients and are only looking to enhance their own career, after all there is a lot of profit and respect to be made from the suffering of suicidal people. I hope you are not made to feel alienated in the future.

All of these responses to my post make complete sense.
It's been many years since I tried to have a conversation with a suicide agency. At the time, I just chose to ignore the word, prevention because I needed to just talk freely about my pain.
I quickly realized that suddenly, it was all about them.
I am currently in an intense acute episode of desperately needing to ctb. I don't have a safe method to just go to sleep.
I'm suffering so intensely that I cannot invite more suffering by doing something that could fail and/or be horribly uncomfortable/painful.

I just want to add (to the suicide prevention people) and F££k off I don't want a F^^king safety plan.

I rant at them about assisted dying and then tell them I have no immanent plans. And feel patronised and pissed off.

I hate the fact that if I talk about being suicidal they then just start 'ensuring I'm safe' when that isn't what I want.
