I get severe daily migraines and I was prescribed amitriptyline. I'm gonna use 1,4 b to put me out and use meto and amitriptyline to end my life. Just thought it was funny he prescribed me amitriptyline.

lol...you got the universe on your side...Amitriptyline rarely ever gets prescribed...But, will you have enough? the lethal dose is around 7 g...and,
Amitriptyline, usually comes in 25mg strength...that would be too many tablets...

If you are in the Uk then they hand the stuff out wholesale nowdays for everything from the above migraines to neuropathic pain to fibromyalgia and lastly to help sleep. But..But...But 25mg tablets are useless, even if you ground them down they are full of so much filler it would still be a massive amount to get down without it coming straight back home.

In the good old days my anti d dose was 250mgs a day, with 100mg tablets, till some idiot marketed Prozac & the happy deadly days of killer anti d's was over. Bah humbug...

I'm prescribed it as well for my migraines. I don't think it's a rare thing if you get migraines? There's only so many that work at preventing and stopping.why is it odd for you to get it?

My neurologist was going to prescribe it but my psychiatrist interceded. Now @Smilla comes back just to cause problems

Out of curiosity, is Amitriptyline commonly perscribed in the US for migraine prevention? I have migraines and I don't think we have it offered at all here in the Uk for migraine prophylaxis. Here the first choice is propranolol which is useless for me. Do you find it helpful @Sickman75 ?

Yes I do fo sure. I always used to get them usually daily I never get them now. Haven't had one in months now. I get little headaches. Nothing major now.

I was on it for migraine prophylaxis, too. It worked—I just wasn't fond of the side effects (totally tolerable, personal choice). I'm on topamax now if you're med "shopping" for this issue—it also totally works for me, but it also has a side effects, though I found they were only when I first took them. For sure try either—I used to get migraines every single day, and both meds work :)

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would use this drug as an end of life agent.

Just for starters it can take up to 36 hours to kill you, and I read about hallucinations ensuing in BIG doses after ingestion.

I'd rather hang.

Not really, amitriptyline reaches peak plasma levels in 6 hours...can take up to 8 hours..so, even with the updated version...it's still going to take 12-24 hours...still, a large improvement over the older version, which took up to 40 hours...

I wish I'd had something years ago as migraines have plagued my life! That horrible feeling of knowing you need to lie in a dark room with a bucket for three days. Ugh

If you grow your own psychedelic mushrooms or make dmt ..your head headaches will instantly stop. I used to be a caretaker for a few people when I grew them. I changed their life because of it. They had cluster headaches the worst kind to get. Something to look up anyways. Dmt is super easy to make. I could make that in my sleep.
