Just wanting some peace

No matter what pro-lifers say preffering to not exist isn't a mental illness. I find it really insulting when pro-lifers say things like suicidal people need "help" and that they need to "recover" when in reality existence itself is the problem and wanting death is all that feels rational to me.
It's disgusting how wanting to die is viewed in such a way rather than seen as the valid way to feel it truly is, my wish to die is a result of becoming aware of how undesirable existence truly is, for me suicide is a rational solution to escape from meaningless suffering.

The reality is that there was never a point to existing in the first place, to have the ability to exist was always futile and unnecessary. I don't see any value in being burdened with human existence, I find existence to be an abomination that causes nothing but harm. It's so horrific to me how there is no limit as to how much one can suffer as long as they exist and I don't want to suffer in any way, for me suicide is suffering prevention.

I despise those pro-lifers who act like people are ill for preffering true peace over pointless suffering, the idea that suicidal people need "help" in the first place is a delusion, it disgusts me how we exist in this society that is filled with pro-life brainwashing. No matter what wanting death should be always accepted as a valid way to feel with people being able to die in peace, only having the option to die peacefully would "help" me, I don't have any interest in suffering in this dreadful existence.

My personal opinion is it depends on the circumstances that lead you to not want to exist. I saw one of your much older threads on here which speaks of health ailments so those are your reasons and like me they're completely justified for how they impact your life.

While there are instances where people do need help in recovering from suicidal ideation, especially in cases where they don't necessarily want to die but keep on having suicidal thoughts, I do agree that reducing a desire to die to be a result of mental illness in all cases is bad. Pro-lifers can't seem to comprehend the nuances surrounding suicidality. Some suicidal people are suicidal due to mental illnesses that can be treated, some are suicidal because of mental illnesses that cannot be treated, some are suicidal due to physical illnesses that cannot be treated, and some just don't like existence and have no history of past trauma or mental illness.

l have wanted to die throughout most of my life and I am not mentally ill, nor do I have any past traumas, or severe physically illnesses. Existence just lacks appeal for me and that's fine. I shouldn't have my desires reduced down to me being "mentally ill" just because they don't fit into the desires that are expected of me to have. Sometimes I wonder if they forgot about the history of mental illness being used as an excuse to harm and invalidate the feelings of people from marginalized demographics and those who were unable to fit into societal expectations. They are basically doing the same thing to suicidal individuals and yet no one wants to talk about it.

If someone wants to die then we should be treating that desire on a case-by-case basis, rather than just generalizing the entire suicidal population.

I agree. Not wanting to live isn't always due to mental illness. Life is cruel for everybody who isn't in the 1% and it's even more cruel for people who were born disadvantaged. There are rational reasons to not want to live life. I personally think that me desiring death because I don't want to suffer is completely rational. There is nothing rational at all about wanting to suffer

From a NHS website -

Myth
You have to be mentally ill to think about suicide.

Fact
  • Not all people who die by suicide have mental health issues.
  • Two in three suicides are by people who are not under mental health care services.
  • Around one in five adults say that they have thought about suicide at some point in their life.
