Sorry for all the train posts recently. My first ctb attempt (cut carotid) landed me in ICU with a two week coma followed by psych-ward. Wish not to repeat and just want to get this right. Another reason for this poll - the last thread I made ("Just made a video") is so cluttered with anti-train method spam it was hard gauge unbiased results from users as a whole.

Method
I would quickly stride to the middle of the tracks facing an oncoming InterCity while bowing down about 90degrees so the weakest part of my skull should impact with the front of the train. The exact speed of the train is unknown but google says average speed is 108kmh (67mph) and top speed is 200kmh (124mph).

Here is the video of the InterCity I made recently that I'm hoping to catch. These are pretty much the exact circumstances: Hiding behind a pipe, dark and no bystanders.

Damn, that freaks me out. While I do think that would kill you, be aware that train suicides tend to traumatize train drivers. I'm not gonna tell you not to use this method because I considered it once, but keep that in mind and good luck!

Will that be painless?
It should be, since the first thing to be smashed to pieces will be the head. This is like falling down from a height at 100 km/h and landing on your head. Sounds very reliable.

Morbid curiosity got the best of me and I started watching people getting hit by trains. Most got hit, dragged under, and then mangled into bits, strewn across the tracks in pieces. I happens super quick too that you won't feel it, but others around you and whoever has to pick up the pieces will. Particular scene where an examiner said the rails were so hot, that piece of flesh were cooked onto the rail and that the face was unrecognizable.

Forgot to mention that whoever was operating the train has to file a police report as part of evidence collection so that the train driver gets to relive your suicide. Also looking at your current train engine, the front is not a mass of metal so an audible "BONK" will be heard in the cabin since the front is made of aluminum and lightweight materials. With enough impact, the windshield would be cracked with your entrails splashed up on it. Train suicides are always grisly, better to do it in the woods so that by the time investigators get there, wild animals would've scavenged the rest of your body parts as food.

I know this is insensitive of me to say but that's really metal.

Yes but do consider the impact. I do understand your desperation though. I have been trying to find a dignified peaceful way of going and IT IS SO DIFFICULT. No matter what you do, we are here for you <3

Yes but do consider the impact.

The impact will be similar to what happens when you throw a tomato at a brick wall.

The picture below of a JP high speed train after hitting a man. The impact was so hard it dislodged the nose cone from the train. At the dried blood marks, it appears to be a glancing blow or maybe his head detached and rolled off the hood.

Always appreciate your graphic anecdotes :pfff:
I feel with my method I would hit the dark grey steel area where there seems to be a rounded extrusion.
It would be funnier with a "BONK" but I don't think the solid steel in the dark area at the front will transmit that sound.

Then it'll sound like a wet thud as your brains explode out the back of your head or ears. Even people who jump off buildings and land on concrete make a SMACK sound.

If you have enough time and energy to plan, write, film and prep, then you probably have enough time and energy to find another method.

100% support your right to end your life.
100% support the right of people to not be subjected to avoidable trauma. (That's what brought many of us here in the first place)

Please, if you can, let your final act be more compassionate.

I think you have some sort of romantic view of suicide where you inflict yourself the maximum cruelty in order to pay for your sins.
Why don't you just look for a peaceful method?

EDIT: Ok there's no 100% peaceful method, but I think there are less cruel ways to die nonetheless

There are no peaceful methods. Every method of deliberate death is an act of violence. Embalming yourself alive with a meat preservative isn't really any more "peaceful" than getting crushed by a train.

A suicide is always going to leave a body and some trauma to someone. It is what it is because laws don't allow people to peacefully and humanely exit

There should be a new subject taught at uni for people like you called "the sound of suicide"..
My guess would be that some edgy teens in Scandinavia already have a band of the same name lol

True, one gives one more time to think and panic as well which is far from peaceful.

Good then following your logic I think that slowly cutting yourself to little pieces using a kitchen knife is an awesome method

I once considered jumping into and hiding in the cardboard/paper trash container so I get crushed by the removal lorry.
But I thought train is a little more honorable and reliable.
Also I figured headbutting the train would be instant lights out / death so what happens after that doesn't really matter.

Any chances to go for a even faster train like an ICE instead of an IC?
I really don't like this method or would advice anyone to do it - but if you're dead set on it you should really aim for the fastest train possible.

I imagine timing would be important. if the driver catches sight of you the train might brake just enough to make your death less than instant, or for you to end up not hitting it head on if your launching yourself at it. Getting cut in half would probably be more painful than your skull exploding.
I'm not keen on the method myself but if you decide to do it, I hope it can be as painless as possible for you and not too damaging on the driver.

This is a good point, I haven't seen any ICE trains passing through, they don't seem to be en-route but it might be worth checking out.

Not sure how the train driver cycle (shifts) works, but I have been doing so much trainspotting for the last month and more, every single evening.
Surely by now they would have established a pattern of someone "sketchy" hanging out around the platform.
My reasoning is that they simply don't give a shit, which is good news for train "jumpers".

Just watching that video scared the eff out of me. Thinking about the effects on the passengers and the driver. I think the pun train reaction applies perfectly. But if thats what you decide then it your choice. But still...

Probably just people who disapprove of the method.
