An attempt in this case does not have to refer to one that ended up with hospitalization. What I am referring to is having a method and trying it with the explicit intention of ending your life.

I mean i tried twice but it was when i was a kid and thought i could actually kill myself with pills. Silly. How you guys failed this much?

Zero. The thought of getting locked up in a psych ward is terrifying, especially in my country, so once I decide to do it I must succeed. No half-assed attempts.

Probably around three "episodes" where I actually made the jump (with the intention of full suspension hanging) and failed because the tree branch wasn't high enough/I'd left the rope too long, then after each failure I either continued fucking up (eventually realising the branch I was using wasn't suitable for example) until I become too strung out to try again that day/it started to get light, or in the last case around August 10th was too much of a pussy to jump by the time I'd sorted the rope out because of the pain from testing the rope/doing partial suspension for about 5-10 seconds.

Loads more if you count "near attempts" i.e. I made plans/sat there considering it/had a noose round my neck or something similar.

This might be a really dumb question, but if you used a really high tree branch, how were you able to get up there in order to tie the rope to it? I imagine having to bring a ladder or climb up the tree if you're not tall enough.

The first couple of times I was trying to use buckets which didn't really give enough height and crushed easily, just because I couldn't find anything else in the shops where I was (I also tried a boulder out of desperation after the first bucket crushed) then more recently I was using a collapsible stool I got which is about 40cm high I think. Really though your feet only need to be a few cm off the ground (or not even that if you were doing partial suspension... I was going for full though)

Can you imagine how strange that would look, to be walking around in public with the collapsible stool and a rope? Way more suspicious than a camping tent..

Yeah, but usually people just don't ask/care typically. The rope was in a closed shoulder bag and the stool was in a large carrier bag. If someone was looking closely they would have probably been able to make out the stool but it was dark and there weren't many people around. For most people it just wouldn't occur to them that someone was on their way to ctb anyway.

I tried to jump off a parking garage two years ago when I was 18. Planned it for awhile. I ran for a couple miles nonstop in the 100 degree texas heat to get there, I drank a lot to get drunk as well.
And...I couldn't do it. I collapsed on the ground near the wall of the top floor, crying. Security found me, gave me water, my mom drove over after they called her, and I was sent me on my way to the hospital, then the ward, then back home after a week.
After I got out, things got somewhat better...but now I'm in an even deeper low. I have no hope.

He was actually a GP and had had some toxicology courses at his uni:D

One. About a week ago. SN. Couldn't get antiemetics, so puked it all out about 5 seconds after drinking it dissolved in water. 5 minutes after it I fell in the toilet. I couldn't move, but remained conscious, although I could hardly speak and understand what is happening around. My mother found me there about 3-5 minutes after I fell. I thought she was sleeping, btw. Only thanks to still being conscious I convinced her not to call to ambulance, she helped me to get to my bed and I fell asleep.
In the morning I had a little hangover, maybe because I was drinking beer before the attempt, but I drank only 0,5l. Later my mother told that my skin was kinda yellow and I was hardly breathing.
Also, idk if it's aftermath of the attempt, but it feels like my brain works much slower now and I easily lose concentration lately. Furthermore, all this week I have strange sense of detachment, as if I was watching everything from the side, but not taking part in it. For example, when I talking to somebody or doing something.

mostly just because backed off at the last possible, because of circumstances not being good, someone unexpected coming, etc. haven't always been in the best circumstances.

1 attempt, 1 aborted. I didn't scope out the location when I tried for hypothermia; I heard people talking about what I was doing, so I had to go back home before I could jump into the water.

14 attempts, 14 fails says it all. That's in 20 years .last attempt Wednesday partial suspension failed again.
