This site is interesting, although I have found some comfort here, It is supposed to be a place where you can go to exchange ideas, experiences, and opinions without the restrictions of normies and political correctness that usually forbid these taboo topics. However, I unfortunately have noticed a definite political bias in many of the members here, and some of the site mods as well. They seem to shutdown discourse that doesn't agree with their predisposed worldview. I think that is tragic seeing as this site may be the last resort for many folks trying to make sense of the world and their place in it. I mean the rest of the world just has their fingers in their ears to each other, it's sad that we can't pull them out and listen to each other freely even at what may be the end of the line.

Why not use the Politics & Philosophy subforum? It might not be frequented as much, but discourse is actually welcome there so long as it's kept civil, to my knowledge.
I do understand what you mean about people getting agitated when their views are challenged, though. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can really be done about it other than being the bigger person and putting your own viewpoint as politely as you can, and disengaging if it stops being productive. The change won't come from them.

I agree change won't come from them, as many ppl are more attracted to believing a comfortable lie, than any uncomfortable truth. But a free exchange of thoughts and ideas should at yhe very least be what the mods and site runner should be keeping sacred.

I've learned the hard way that some people will invalidate your suffering if you don't think like them, like a nagging, narcissistic parent saying, "You don't have it that bad." And it shouldn't be acceptable.

Yet that's how things often are. For some reason, people, including myself, tend to idealize this space, as if everyone here is a saint. There are many good, compassionate people, but there are also some who are completely self‑centered, and even a few who take a disturbing satisfaction in encouraging others toward suicide, not out of empathy, but out of something darker.

Overall, SaSu isn't the evil place pro‑lifers claim it is, but we shouldn't romanticize it either. It's not a paradise where everyone is kind and empathetic; it's a community with both light and shadow.

I think they shut down discourse because ir's too corrosive and difficult to moderate.
I would agree but it seems that a tremendous amount of vitriolic posts fly by under the radar as long as they have a certain political bent. While even legitimate questions and insights get flagged if they seem to oppose a certain worldview.
Almost everyone here wants to not be alive and we still find the passion in us to bicker over politics.
I think we say "politics," but what we really mean are our values, which speak to who we are. Or at least how we see ourselves.

Here we go. The rabid wolves coming out for their next meal. They smell something, what could it be? Oh no, it's, it's, it's, a person that has different opinions! Swarm, swarm, swarm! 🍖

This comment deserves more attention. I've noticed that I sometimes catch myself idealizing it as well.
