I think the breaker in your fusebox would prevent that these days but don't quote me

In modern homes it will not work, because of devices that quickly break the electric current when there's a current leakage. Look up RCD on google.

I really wouldn't recommend this method. It will probably short-circuit your house.

In terms of failure or it simply doesn't work?

I don't know if you are a troll or not. But I'll give you a straight answer... read the wiki, explore other stuff. Abandon this idea like...now. It's not good.

If it were really that easy, you'd be seeing tons of threads about it here.

It depends on a few factors. The first is if a fuse doesn't blow in the device or house. The second is where the electric goes. Chances are, your vital parts will be away from where the electricity is flowing. This means it might hurt you and damage your limbs. But you will still be alive.

Now why do you get a yes and no comes from how electricity kinda does its own thing. Even if you had the drain at your feet and the device falls towards your head. The electricity might go around you, it might go in you but around any vital parts, or it might take you out.

The best way to look at this is by looking at lighting. People who have been hit with lighting, some have lived while others haven't. Some gotten scars, and some haven't had any damage at all.

Personally, I wouldn't do that method because the high unpredictably and the high chance something will go wrong. You might want to look at some of the stuff that's came out of electric shock therapy and note that's more than less what you're aiming for. Like look at where the person breaks their bones during the therapy because the electrical activity in the brain. Something that really doesn't happen in epileptic seizures

I have a friend who tried it with her hairdryer in the tub. The outlet was GFCI protected. It didn't work.

Lightning is not a very accurate example because the electricity gets discharged into the ground. And based on the foot insulation or conductor that's another big factor.

The thing about a bathtub full of water is that it will keep the electricity from discharging out. So it's a constant running circuit.

Doubt it still works in these days because so many safety measures have been introduced. It's like trying to monoxide yourself using a new age car - almost impossible nowadays.

Well you can always use a metal axe to the main power inlet to the house/building. I'm kinda joking btw.

BTW, when I took some OSHA class for one of my degrees, people being zapped is one thing that was covered. It isn't a peaceful way to go, and it will hurt. And it is no where near quick. In most cases, there is more than enough time to grab a 2x4 board and wack someone off whatever that is shocking them. There is even cases during one of the last hurricanes on some group that was going through knee high water. At some point one of them touched a metal light pole, and he had enough time to tell his friends to stay away from him because they would be electrocuted.

I don't know much about SN, but I can also tell you hanging yourself isn't a peaceful way to go. Unless if you do everything right, it will take a few moments. And based on people who survived it (like someone saving them at the last second). They said it is extremely painful.
