Thanks very much. I think someone may offer me a job today, the prayers have somehow worked! Now time to become religious I guess.
Im sorry that you made that experience, my intent was just to help. I mentioned it because I know that from people I personally know that it's a way to start a career, and was my own preferred Job in that sector. I don't know 1 single person who couldn't land a job in that field who seriously tried it and build a portfolio on skills, I was offered around 1400 (taxes excluded) for part time (15 hours a week) during computer science degree and after that a 100% job guarantee. It's just facts everyone can look up to it's the fastest growing sector in the world. But it depends on the person and how good the portfolio is build. I can imagine that the US market has more frauds and fake bootcamps, for example I learned the most about C++ and commercialized hacking (penetration testing) without any paid course and I could already live by that alone from freelancing jobs on fiverr. That's why I tell that people I don't paid by company's, I just know how many specialized workers are missing, in germany they pay a shit load of money if you can build yourself up to a valueable worker, when someone said "that's not true", bro I made when corona started 3k a month on fiverr, without any degree just sitting few hours on my laptop smoking weed and watched anime while the scanners or something works in the background. Since I'm unemployed because im back 2 study full time, I've tried my best to help peoples and I'm shocked that it's that hard for some, I literally learned everything from Youtube
Not trying to be offensive, but I have heard this so many times, someone teaching themselves to code on youtube, freelancing and breaking into huge paying work and so on. It is a wonderful sounding dream. Then you get out there and you have literally no chance of employment. And you have to deal with the feelings of being exploited by the people who sold you the course or the cert. Even "free" materials online generate revenue by advertising.
I can already code python and ecmascript to an amateur level. It was something I did out of interest along with sql, php and learning about powerBI. I have done so much online learning - project management, excel, computer maintenance, data analysis. There is no way I'll ever work in these fields, not even for free. Because you need the following:
- Connections - someone to hand you the job. No interview, no process, just give you the job.
- Years of paid experience. No certs, no degree - a resume with paid experience.
I have come across so many people across the world who have sunk thousands of dollars and hours in their projects thinking they can become high earners or even to earn enough to survive. Some put every last piece of hope in thinking they can start their own business or work as a developer. Then they get out there without connections and experience, and *always* come back empty-handed. The people that told them they could make it may have been insidious or well meaning, but they had friends who gave them work. Sure, you can say you learned to code on youtube and worked on fiverr, if you feel like saying it, I think people do to prove their worth. But without friends you won't get a gig let alone a job. You don't have a single chance.
