Hey friend, I recall you said this originates neurologically rather from the ear itself. I can Imagine what a struggle this is for you, and I'm sorry to hear nobody seems to have a solution. What has your neurologist said about this? Since just live with it isn't reasonable what do they suggest to tame it a bit?

@Susan Caswell, as always you have my sympathy. I know you've tried pretty much everything and seen multiple doctors, right? Have you tried getting a consultation at a teaching hospital? and/or contacting the media about your condition? If one of those "difficult case" columns or shows took an interest, maybe someone would have an idea.

Meanwhile, do you notice anything that gives you at least a little relief? Meditating, submerging in your bath, listening to your breathing or birds chirping? Earplugs? Headphones? Ice packs? Anything?

if you are from the US, theres an ongoing developing of a cure. OTO-313 is the name and its on phase 2. it managed to greatly improve the tinnitus of half of the clinical trial participants. maybe you can take part. good luck

Susan I feel for you so much. If I was you I would rather be deaf than suffer as you do. Is there a surgical option to do this? At the moment it seems you would rather be dead so deafness may be a better option? I don't know if its possible and know nothing about tinnitus so I apologise if I'm being naive.

Have you ever done a MRI for this problem?

Have you been to the dentist with this problem?

Have you tried to minimize the roar with sound therapy?

Have you had a concussion or whiplash damage?

Have you tried specially designed hearing aid for tinnitus/hyperacusis?

Have you tried Nortriptyline?

Have you tried Hypnosis?

Have you tried Benzo?

I've seen several of your posts and feel reluctant to comment because what do I know right?! I'm not a doctor and I imagine you must have tried EVERYTHING. And now you're desperate for ANYTHING that might help. I wonder if you tried the thing in the video below. It describes the 'Reddit Tinnitus Cure'. And they said at the end of the video that 50% of people experienced some relief. I feel so bad for you to have to experience this torture.

Edit: just realized you said you can't listen to anything. So turn the sound off and subtitles on!

I just did this a few times and it eased up to about half the volume for a couple of minutes! I will continue to work with it. It's much quieter! THANK YOU!

It's gone in the ear that was quieter, and about half as loud in the other ear.

No one should try those sound videos on youtube. Where they play various tones that are supposed to help tinnitus. I tried one and it turned up the volume about ten times louder. I was really horrified and cried. It finally went back down where it had been but at the time it was a disaster, so do NOT listen to those.

@Susan Caswell, have you tried the technique that @Lostandlooking posted above?

And are you active on any tinnitus forums? I know you feel like you can't ask (or hire) anyone to help you upload the documents that Dignitas (or Pegasos?) requires, and we can't do it for you, so maybe a tinnitus forum would have good ideas for you.

I love how I just have it in the loudest ear now instead of both ears!!!

I couldn't get the left hand to tap too hard and that is the loud side. Maybe if I can tap harder using that technique it will help more.

Also I have lot's of hair on the back of my head so that also dulls the tapping sensation on the back of my head. But I plan to work with it more. I'm thrilled it's just in my left ear instead of both now.

I wonder if it would work if someone else were tapping on the back of the head, or if it has to be specifically that way with the fingers.

I'm going to experiment with putting in ear plugs and tapping the back of my head harder.

Tinnitus masking won't cure my Tinnitus a tiny bit. As soon as I put down the headphone, that loud high-pitch ringing comes back torturing me 24/7 ;-;

I think my Tinnitus was caused by my reckless parents who tried to clean my ear canal with unsterile hard wooden stick with a bit curvature at the tip (I don't know what it's called). And "thanks" to them, I got chronic ear infections with nasty yellowish pus coming out from both ears and muffled hearing :hmph::'(
Please can anyone help me i cant take this tinnitus any longer its making me so ill but how can i live with jet plane roaring both ears wish with all my heart it would just stop id take some getting well now the anxiety and meds making me so ill could have stood anything but this id rather have my cancer back than this i survived was cured but no one can stop damn noise in ears tinnitus isnt like this hammering so loud you cant take it its going to make me insane crazy person i dont deserve this was good happy soul with lovely life this is too cruel to be happening i dont have clue what set it off even my ears were perfect and hearing no stress no loud noise nothing most people live with and manage ok live with it why me roaring so loud my ears are vibrating how can one little pair of ears make noise like this nothing but this would have brought me here i valued my life loved life are there any doctors on here anyone who could help me if it would just go down to level i can live with i was ok for first 6 months but was one ear one noise no amplifying if only that would stop please someone help me this is horrific torture
As for Susan, I feel so sorry you're suffering so much. Your Tinnitus seems far worse than mine. I think current medical technology has not yet able to cure Tinnitus. I've tried dozens of ENT in my city and not one of them are able to at least turn down the ringing volume a bit :aw:
tldr....LMAO...had to look that one up :pfff:. maybe eardrum removal could work i dont know:ehh:
No! Eardrum removal won't make your Tinnitus disappear, it just makes you deaf with loud ringing still present (because the problem is the damaged hair cells inside the cochlea)!

I'm sorry you're suffering from such a disease. My uncle has a terrible tinnitus too. He has seen multiple doctors and no one can help him... he can't neither work normally nor be happy. We speak different languages so we don't communicate well. I can't imagine how tedious it has to be. I wish you all the best.

I'm seeing an odd ad that claims that their product's original intent was to produce good ear plugs or earbuds, but it also accidentally helps with tinnitus.
I'm not entirely sure if it's serious.
Take a look at this: https://www.flareaudio.com/pages/calmer-life

I am in no way associated with the company, I'm not some salesman. I might be dealing with tinnitus too, seeing as if I turn the music off, I start hearing EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE all over the place, which creeps me out, so I have spotify running 24/7.
