I'm planning to CTB using SN. I don't have much choice where to do it. Either at home when everyone is sleeping or in a rented apartment / hotel. The problem with renting an apartment (the preferred option, since hotel rooms tend to be more audible) is that I have never done this and do not know how not to arouse suspicion. For example, I want to rent an apartment for a few days in my city, wouldn't it be suspicious given the fact that I'm registered within it? Is it necessary to rent an apartment in a city other than your own? Maybe I'm overthinking it, maybe not, Idk. I also have not yet decided what time of day i should do it (assuming i'm doing it in rented apartment), on the one hand, usually everyone sleeps at night, on the other hand, people are at work during the day. As for the hotels...again, I've never been in one...maybe the hotel management doesn't pay attention to your place of residence, but I'm worried whether it's night or day hotel staff or clients can easily hear me. I know these concerns seems a little strange given that one of the options I considered my house while everyone was sleeping, but I think that the chance of being heard by someone in the hotel or in my house is about the same, and if someone will discover me "ahead of time", then it would be better if it were relatives who already know that I hate my life and, in fact, I am in a hopeless situation.

I don't think it's unusual to worry about these things (noise alerting people.) I am fortunate enough to live alone but still worry about my neighbours (the walls are pretty thin.) Still- people are sick for all sorts of reasons. I think it is more likely that family would check up on you- so I do understand your reasoning.

As for renting or booking a hotel near by- I expect people do it for lots of reasons and I doubt you will even be asked- they just want your money at the end of the day... Still, I guess you could say it's nearer a job or you want to live on your own for a bit or something.

I'm not too sure if you can get VERY short term rents... I would have thought 1 month would be the minimum. (Could be wrong though.) You do sometimes need a security deposit, a months rent in advance, possibly a credit check and sometimes references for renting. Again though- suspect it depends on what you go for.

I sort of think doing it in a hotel is a little kinder than a rented appartment- I imagine they carry more insurance for such an event. Also, you could try and block the hallway with a note to try and stop cleaning staff from discovering you. If you do it in an appartment and send a delayed alert, presumably they would have to break down the door (unless you left it unlocked.)

Just my thoughts- I know it's horrible to be forced in to a position where we have to make choices like this and I know some people feel we don't owe anything to anyone as a result. Still, personally, I would prefer my death to be as least traumatic to others as possible (even strangers.)

we have other similiar services, they are practically no different from air b&b afaik.

I simply don't have enough money for month or more, I can only rent an apartment for a few days. And that what i'm currently planning to do cuz every time I tell myself - I need to do it now, then I put it off, and then I regret that I still haven't done it, I'm afraid that one day it will be too late. If they ask me why I rent an apartment in the same city, then I'm going to say that this is for family reasons, such as relatives come to my sister and the house is too crowded. This is the best I could come up with.

I'm not sure if it would be that suspicious, even if it's in the same town you are in. Lots of people have arguments during the holidays and might end up using airbnb or hotels in the same city to unwind from their family members or partners, for a day or two.
