Venting Pissed off. SN purity tests all failed on all batches

Fucking bullshit. I went through all kinds of hell for the last MONTH trying to get this shit, and I can't even tell if it's legitimate or not. Testing strips come back ENTIRELY negative for nitrite for this supposedly 99%. Melting point test is a pain in the ass because it takes so long to get to 271C, I haven't even been able to get it there even with an oil bath.

The nitrite test I have goes up to 25ppm. The test on the forum says to get the 10ppm, but I figured more would be better, but I dumped like 100g into water to get ANY result and NOTHING happens. NO colors.

I'm so fucking frustrated right now. I'm pissed. I need to find a way to get sa. That test is simple. It'll fucking explode if it comes in contact with metal so I just throw a small piece on a tin can and make a small boom, then I'll fucking know. And there's no antidote. But NO ONE sells that shit easily since it is so dangerous to transport.

I, just like many of us I'm sure, just want a fucking "GO TO SLEEP AND NEVER WAKE UP" button god damn it.

Maybe I should just skip all this stupid shit and just fucking shoot myself in the head. But I've had my gun for awhile now and I just don't want to do it that way. Even though I do. I can't fail again, so I'm not going to leave it to one method. I'm so tired of this. I feel like I'm never going to get this to work, and I feel so fucking stupid and ineffectual.

This won't let you distinguish nitrite from nitrate (because both are potent oxidizers), but curing salt won't cause such intense burning. Nitrite and nitrate can be distinguished using reaction with ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) or ammonium sulfate ((NH4)2SO4)

NaNO2 + NH4Cl = NaCl + NH4NO2
2 NaNO2 + (NH4)2SO4 = Na2SO4 + 2 NH4NO2

NH4NO2 easily decomposes to water and gaseous nitrogen in hot water solutions

NH4NO2 = 2 H2O + N2





By measuring the volume of produced nitrogen, it's possible to roughly estimate approximate purity of NaNO2 powder.

NH4NO3 (that could be produced if NaNO2 were replaced with NaNO3) needs much higher temperatures to decompose, so no bubbles would appear in a hot water solution of it.

NH4Cl and (NH4)2SO4 may also produce CO2 and NH3 when reacting with carbonates or hydrocarbonates. NH3 has a distinctive pungent odor. If you can perceive it clearly, your NaNO2 is likely contaminated with a substantial amount of carbonates or NaOH.
