I ordered a shotgun online ( Maverick 88 12 ga 18.5'') and will get 00 buckshot ammo to go with. I am picking it up tomorrow. I'm not sure on exactly how to shoot through mouth. This will be my first time shooting and I don't have anywhere to practice. How far should it go into my mouth? And is the angle really precise? I don't want to mess up.
Also when I was 10 I was admitted into a psych ward by my parents I think. will this prevent me from buying a gun?

The general thinking behind a shotty is that you don't really need to aim it, more like point it in the general direction of whatever is giving you problems. Like Bill Burr says, it's got a good spread. The shorter the barrel, the more it spreads.

Generally a court would have to rule you incompetent/be a danger to others or yourself to own firearms, so you'd probably know. And yeah, not much aiming required... it'll blow everything out of its way.

You don't need to aim it, but you need to REALLY not miss or flinch or jerk. If you live in the US, they're gonna run the background check on you, but only if you're a felon or known to the cops that you shouldn't have one.

Now speaking as someone who likes shooting guns and was military, if you've never fired a gun before, go to any range and fire a box of shells. This thing is about as potent as having a pet lion. It's a tool with the capacity to reach out and easily touch someone from 200m away. Plus, you need to understand how powerful this thing is and the kick. Even if it's a garbage indoor range or outdoor skeet.
Ideally, take a hunting certification class. It's like $30 and they take you to the range to fire weapons as a kinda final event.

I do wonder if a slug would be a better option though if the precision aspect was more on point or at least close. And by the way, mind your neighbors as far as aim goes as well.

No. Especially on a 12g, a slug is going to have way too much penetration. We're too meat bag

Figured as much, either way a shotgun will most likely seal the deal. Just out of curiosity, what was your MOS?

Good answers here, especially by @Mr. 'K so? and @SuiSqueeze92. I would add a suggestion too, to help with overcoming or at least reducing your SI (survival instinct). With the shotgun, you could try dryfiring (shooting the gun without any rounds in the chamber, tube, or magazine) and then squeezing the trigger until you hear a 'click'. The 'click' would mean that had there been a live round in the firearm, the firearm would discharge. By doing this, not only are you conditioning yourself to the act of CTB'ing, but also knowing about how much lbs of pressure and how far you can squeeze the trigger until the weapon discharges.

Its just time. I feel it. The timing is perfect
Your body, your choice, but if you're not confident with the method then you're going to wind up worse.

I've been getting things together for a long, lonnnnnnng time while also trying to feel better.

Sorry I don't quite understand? What's the problem about using a slug in your shotgun? I was going to use that to shoot myself in the head, can you please explain why that might not be a good idea? Thanks in advance for your explanantion !

It's not a problem, per se, as much as it's not as reliable. The slug is basically just a wider bullet made for a smooth bore shotty, but can do funkier stuff because it's not being spun by any rifling. There's always a chance that the round doesn't penetrate and "grazes" around the skull. Or worse, you miss/flinch and it's not lethal. Birdshot, I would assume, is the opposite and too small and too spread to really do the damage

It's safer to go for 00 buckshot

So I guess that means my idea to shorten the barrel of my shotgun to ctb was correct, am I right? Better spread = more damage ?

Thank you for that suggestion, you suggested it in an earlier thread already before, and since then I have been "dryfiring" every day so I get completely comfortable with angle, presssure on the trigger, position of the shotgun. I am getting better at it every day and I feel my SI won't be a problem when I finally put the rounds in, it will just feel like a "technique" I can execute just as on any other day before. So really, a wholehearted "THANK YOU" for your kind help !

Yes because you're gonna be balls close to what your intended target is gonna be, but the mess is gonna be exponentially higher. It's gonna have the same power regardless since the amount of powder is the same, but the spread is gonna jump from 1' at 15m to like 3' same distance.

A sawed off with the shells sticking out the barrel like this, for example, will take out a room full of hostages whether you want to or not because of the spread

Ok thanks for your answer - I have buckshot too ! And I have a double-barrelled shotgun, so I guess I could even use one cartridge of each (one slug, one buckshot), fire them both at the same time and it should work swimmingly !

One and done bro. I was taught double barrel is for intruders, executions and bears. The second one is gonna be overkill and a gore shot. I'd also start quoting some plastic tarp

Well if you are going to die what's wrong with overkill and a bit of gore?? :pfff: I mean it's going to be a blood bath for the people who find me anyway....which is why I am doing it outside, far away from any houses in a natural setting, may be the wild animals will eat the rest of my body before anyone finds me, that would be perfect ! The people who discover the scene will just find my notes and the gun and with a bit of luck the rain will even have washed away the blood so it won't be so traumatizing to them !
Sorry what do you mean by "I'd also start quoting some plastic tarp"? English is not my native language, sorry to ask....

"I would get some prices on plastic sheets square meter prices if you're inside" I forget to tune down colloquial words, my bad.

With all that said, you'll be scattering chum for the scavengers. How far into the woods are you trying to go in?

I'll be going into my own woods, since it's private property there won't be any families with kids wandering around there who could get a traumatic experience....I'll tell everybody I'm on holidays for a week somewhere where my phone doesn't work, so no one will be looking for me straight away, and by the time they realize I'm missing hopefully the foxes/badgers/wild boar will have taken care of the remains....I know it's a gruesome sight when someone blows their head off so I'll try and take care to have as little left as possible...maybe I can even smear something over my body to attract the animals and make it extra yummy for them?

The hogs will go apeshit findings you in the woods like that. Idk about by you, but by me they have to fight with gators, vultures and coyotes so they'll destroy a human. Especially if you bait them with cracked corn

Well I live in Europe we don't have any gators, vultures etc. not even bears or wolves where I live. But there are plenty of boars and abundance of small carnivores. I buried my dog who had been run over once in the woods, a few days later I went to the site - the corpse had been dug out and had disappeared.....also the body of a stillborn foal, we put it in the woods...next day it was gone ! So I am hopeful they'll like human fleash as well. My idea has another great advantage (apart from actually feeding some sweet wild animals), there won't be any body to bury so I can get round the bloody burial ! I'll say in my ctb note that I do not wish to have a burial but of course when they find something that is still sort of recognizeable they'll do it anyway, because it's tradition...if they cannot find anything, what are they going to put in the coffin? Burial avoided, cool !

Depends on the country, what the laws on bodies are, and if/who's your next of kin. Whatever is left will get found, maybe ID'd if you're reported missing, and then interred somewhere either in accordance to legal will or next of kin's decision. They bury empty coffins of the family has no body left or is not able to bring back

Oh shit....even if I state in my note that I want no burial? I mean what's the point of putting an empty coffin in a hole in the ground or stick it into the cremation oven? Perfectly senseless waste of wood for which some poor tree had to die....and as for the ID'ing, if they find my note in my vehicle (not car, can't get into the woods with that but I have a coool little gator that goes everywhere) stating it was me (maybe even put my passport in the envelope with the note?) and that I clearly say I committed suicide, what's the point? Another waste of resources.

"Friends call me George. But you can call me Dubyuh"

@LastRide It would have to be worded out in a legally binding last will and testament, and they still have to find a body to declared you deceased. A missing person can still be decorated legally dead, but it takes like 6 months of missing with no leads or body found.
