Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.
This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

Weirdly, I disagree. I'll amend my statement by saying that it's actually humanity at its best. Humans are selfish. At base, they have no empathy. They're ignorant because they care more about appearing right than actually being right. I believe the reason for this is that they don't go through as much shit as we do. This community is supportive and wonderful because we all understand the pain we all feel on some level or another. They can never experience that empathy because they live those gilded lives. The crazy part is, humans, set them up for that, too. Humans made it so the little people like us don't fucking matter unless they can use us for political gain or entertainment. We're steppingstones on the path to the rest of their wonderful life, exemplifying the peak of what humanity is. We're the outliers. We're the weirdos who actually care about one another. That truly is abnormal, and a morbid part of me is proud about that.
I would only add that it's not just about humans. The entire nature is like hell. Almost all living beings do terrible things to each other and suffering is the norm everywhere
Depressingly beautiful. I always forget how off the charts we are when talking to 'normal' people in the sui sense. It's like we've been hardwired to care more about pain.
I am sorry I wont dimiss those acts simply as this is just how nature is. Humans have the the ability to be self conscious and self reflect. It is grossly unfair to blame nature for our actions and behaviours as we have much greater capacity to think about the consequences of our actions. I dont even know where to begin. It is just very wrong to just throw our hands in the air and claim what we do is just natural almost like we purely operate from instictual place. We are the worst in nature. Yeah, that's totally true. I talk about this often with people, about how the people I see as putting the most good into this world are those who've done just that. Something in their life challenged them and they looked into the mirror honestly and tried to grow. People who coast through life unchallenged never have to self-reflect. I feel like there's a name or saying for something like that...ah yes, "if it's not broke, don't fix it".

Disgusting. The pretence is ongoing with people still pretending that they only want to help and support suicidal people. Let's be clear, it is not that people give a flying fig about people like this man. They just want him - and by extension, people like us - to keep our thoughts and ideation to ourselves and preferably stay alive to satisfy their sense of order - or, if we are considered to be worthless and unproductive members of society, they'd rather we went away without fuss or publicity.
How about a trade? They make assisted suicide legal and provide me with a peaceful and dignified way out, and they can have my fucking organs.

I agree with you. i wasn't defending our actions by any way. I was just referring to the phrase "The world is such a fucked up place thanks to humanity." That sounded like the world would be a good place without us. It definitely wouldn't, because nature is fucked up as well.
