TL;DR People are by and large just a bunch of selfish followers who don't truly give a crap about anything but themselves. They'd literally eat babies and puppies for breakfast if it meant they'd become rich and famous and win a billion dollars for it.

The title basically...people in general are basically almost entirely the same. They just follow whatever's popular at the moment, regardless of what it is. Remember that long ago (or not even THAT long ago) slavery and racism were considered "cool," and people rolled with it. These days it's considered "uncool," so people decide against it, but if it became "cool" once again then people who "claim" to be "supportive and tolerant of all different races" would suddenly become "YEAH NOPE I HAVE ALWAYS HATED BLACK PEOPLE ALL ALONG HAHAHA RACISM IS COOL NOW SO I'M GONNA FOLLOW IT!"

Be aware though, I do NOT claim to be better than other people. I am just as bad, if not even worse. I know I'm a piece of shit too. I hate other people, yes. But I also hate myself. So I guess that "balances" it out? Maybe?

But people in general just by and large act the same and think the same. It's more or less "you've met one human, you've met them all."

The only "exceptions" would be mentally ill people whose brains are wired differently than neurotypical people's brains, but even they have set patterns once you get to know them better.

But yeah...people in general are sheep, and just follow what's popular, regardless of how good or bad it is, or if it makes sense or not.

I bet you a billion dollars that all these people who "are so supportive of LGBTQ+ rights" and "who are all for body positivity and support fat women and plus sized models" would suddenly become "LOL NOPE I HAVE ALWAYS HATED GAY PEOPLE AND FAT WOMEN ALL ALONG HAHAHAHA HOMOPHOBIA AND FAT SHAMING IS COOL AGAIN NOW!"

And people by and large are also extremely selfish, and only care for themselves. 99.99% of people would kill and eat their parents if it meant they'd win a billion bucks. They'd probably even rape a child or rape a dog for a billion bucks, also.

And yeah...that's it...I hate people. For the record, I'm not better. I'm extremely selfish too. I follow what's popular regardless of what it is so people don't make fun of me. I have no sympathy for humans or animals. I don't have sympathy for anyone or anything. I wouldn't hesitate to ruin's someone life if they dared cross me. All that stuff. And I hate myself too. So I hate myself for being a shitty person, and I hate everyone else for being a shitty person.

Of the 8 billion (is it 8 billion really?) human population I believe the percentage of good humans is EXACTLY ZERO. As in 0%. Period. Good humans don't exist in my book.

Well buddy, that's your fault lol.
No doubt about that. But being selfless in this world will get you nowhere from my experience. From my experience the most cruel, manipulative people ALWAYS come out on top.

Of course those "cruel manipulative people" don't act like that upfront. In public, in front of others they ACT kind and wholesome. But it's just a facade to get what they truly want. They'll stab you in the back the first chance it's convenient or beneficial for them.

Humans adapt and change based on circumstances, it can be said about everyone.

I realized this when a certain thought entered my mind. Like, hypothetically, if some immortal being came to this earth you can forget about any human made concept they say they would die for, immediately. They would do whatever necessary to be in good graces of said being and follow orders. Ditch every previous belief.

That is unrealistic scenario but go by my logic and add realistic changes to someones life and try to imagine. You can switch love/hate humans have for each other instantly if you turn someones life around based on shallow things.

Well, say as you may be, I still love and care about and for you. We are all in this together, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, and at the ripe old age of 67, I have seen and interacted with a lot of crummy people, BUT also so many loving souls, like everyone on here.

Joining this site has taught me that there are loving, caring and empathic souls here and I refuse to let from outside this site get me down.

I care about you a lot, really do, and I send you hugs, love and the knowledge that you are part of a large group of loving and caring souls here.

They are very uncommon, yes, but not all. Some just aren't interested on being on top. There are also honest people: look around, we live in an anti-suicide society, how do you explain this forum if no one does what they believe in? There are those who go against the popular belief and try to make it possible without self-gain.

There are lots of bad people and the vast majority of people only want to consume, but let's not generalize. It's dangerous and not everyone is like that.

Well nice(er) people like you do give me somewhat of a glimmer of hope...

Perhaps I'm way too cynical, nihilistic, pessimistic, misanthrope, etc, whatever for my own good, but...this reality just makes sense to me.

I don't doubt I may be completely delusional and insane, either. I know life/the world can be unpredictable, and things aren't always what they same.

Maybe my worldview is completely upside down of what is actually going on.

Love me some cynicism. It's like cold water when you've been crawling through the sweltering dessert.

Let's see...

Of the 8 billion (is it 8 billion really?) human population I believe the percentage of good humans is EXACTLY ZERO. As in 0%. Period. Good humans don't exist in my book.

I guess we can make it a true/false thing, that has some value in my eyes. I've thought and said something like this before. The analogy I use to make it coherent may be useful to you or someone reading:

It's a little bit like talking about the smartest dog. Some dogs are pretty stupid, relatively. Right? But other dogs really impress us. We're like...

"Wow, that dog almost seems human at times with how intelligent it is. Some of its intellectual traits even seem rare by human standards"

However... the dog species, as a whole, is just... stupid. Right? Why can we say this so confidently? Because all we have to do is imagine something that makes a joke out of both us and dogs, by whatever measurements we're using. We're close to the ground is the point, you know? Yes it's relative, yes we're geniuses compared to... shrimp. But it's pretty grounded despite the fact of that relativity. Just visualize the scale:

It starts at the bottom, we're at zero. Then we're at the bare minimum, okay? Then we go up, and up, and we'll eventually find mammals, then we go on and on and we find the best mammals and then us. But if we really zoomed this scale out, what we'd see is we are very, very close to the ground. It's not that we're really smart, and shrimp are really dumb. And it's also not that it's relative and we can't make a coherent, objective statement. Both of those are wrong. The first is wrong because we're suffering a perspectival illusion from being as zoomed in as we are. We look like absolute geniuses in our ability to outsmart shrimp, it looks big, but it isn't. The second is wrong because we think this relativity makes us think there's no way to factually say we're dumb-- yet we are. We are on the bottom of the scale. Near the shrimp. You just have to zoom the scale out and you'll clearly see. It's sort of like saying "3" is a small number. It's relative, yes, because 1 is smaller than 3. But 3 is still really small.

Okay, that out of the way...

Once you grasp that whole idea, I think humans and their moral character function the same way. So while there's a huge range between the most evil human and the most ethical human, the species as a whole, is just still not very ethically advanced. Objectively. All that preamble about intelligence, just for that one point.

Still, appreciating the difference between the most evil human being and the most ethical, is deeply valuable, and we really should take an interest there. Whatever is worth anything, will be found in understanding that difference more and more. We should also appreciate the flip side, it's good that we're not... insects, in some hive mind, and there's truly zero concept or hope of an ethical conversation. At least we have access to a conversation about right/wrong(but holy shit do we fuck it up, and not by accident-- the bug is the feature). You can recognize that 3 is a factually small number(given what's possible), but collapse on the floor in gratitude that 3 isn't 1, because that would really suck, to sum it up in a single sentence.

That's the problem really. I think we learn to become selfish in this world in order to survive. If we happen to receive an upbringing where we put others first- we get walked all over. If we put our trust in other people and they let us down- we learn that you can only rely on yourself. It becomes obvious that everyone is looking out for themselves first so- if you don't do that also, it puts you at a disadvantage to them. It's sad but, that seems to be the reality.

Yeah, you do sort of learn everyone's pretty rotten in the end (ourselves included). With some people it's obvious, others it's more tucked away, but basically we're all shitty. We pretend to be good by way of surface virtues that are so popular now, but there's no real weight behind any of it. It's just a collective social media moral compass that we all get spoon fed, with buzzwords thrown in. I think we're also dealing with a world full of hurt and damaged people in general. Self-preservation is #1 and in that context, everyone else can get lost.

I think I'm truly flying solo for the rest of my life at this point.
