Pennyroyal tea, is a traditional abortifacient and apparently induces abortion by bringing the body close to organ failure. However, I've found a few articles reporting on deaths from ingesting pennyroyal essential oil including one where only one ounce was ingested. How reliable does this sound to you guys?

Also, before you ask, I have SN, but I don't want to use it because I promised my therapist I wouldn't and I don't wanna lie to her (T ^ T)…

I guess the question is, How reliable do you think the sources are?

So this must be what the Nirvana song was about.

I know nothing of pennyroyal tea outside that song. I'm disappointed in myself for never looking it up tbh.

Anything that causes organ failure sounds like it would be quite uncomfortable as far as methods go. I would have thought, if its easily accessible and reliable it would be a commonly known and used method at this point. But things do slip under the radar or go out of 'fashion' so who knows?

Hey @KrankyKitten your cat shares a resemblance to mine. Is it a snowflake siamese? Mine has the same kind of marking and the darker bits change in value/darkness depending in the sun they're exposed to. At one point she was really light and now the patches are really dark. I hadn't noticed just how much until I looked and compared just now. She is a very intelligent cat and communicates with body language. I hope you two have a great relationship like us. I've had many cats but I don't recall any being as communicative as this one by a long shot. She's almost like a dog.

Anyway, back on topic. 🎯 A round of pennyroyal tea for all, barkeep. Thank you.

I think the sources are definitely reliable but they're all pretty old like late 70's. So I know that ingesting pennyroyal can be fatal but I can't gauge the fatality rate from the limited amount of case studies I've seen :~/

Maybe I just gotta try it out and see how it goes lol

Yeah that's what I was thinking…
I don't have good pain tolerance, so I wanna make sure I actually die if I go through all of that :~(

It's actually not my cat. It's a meme I found, captioned Dis better be important. I thought it was a better fit for my avatar (an actually cranky kitten) than the lovely intarsia kitty I'd had up there before.

And I"m glad it's not my cat - I love cats, but I can't stand really vocal cats. I grew up with my grandma, who had 3 Siamese, and those beasties were soooooo vocal. Hated those cats. (For the record, I also hate really yappy dogs. Sound is a stress trigger for me.)

Sorry!

Ha. No problem. No need to be sorry.

FWIW Snowshoe siamese aren't vocal like regular siamese. Mine never even meowed for the first couple of years. I've kind bought it out of her. Like I say, she communicates through body langiage.

Anyway, I'll stop derailing the thread as 'dis is not important' :))

Ah, you don't know just how much I'd love to do that but I'm super careful about sharing anything that could be identifying. Man I really wish I could share some though. She's just too unique looking and identifiable. I've had to resist the urge to share pics in cat thread multiple times so far. I am very sorry! :)
