Hello everyone

I'm new here, though I've been a long time lurker

I was practicing with partial suspension - unsuccessfully and I began wondering - can you have any damage from failed attempts even if you don't get to the point where you lose consciousness?

I know it's kind of weird that I care about that if I'm trying to CTB, but if I end up being alive I wouldn't like to have any sort of damage, like ear damage or memory problems due to practicing with partial hanging.

I would try SN but I can't afford to lose the money. So it's either partial or jumping for me

It's not true that it's impossible to harm yourself doing partial. Even just playing around with putting your weight on the rope could cause you to have an aneurysm or stroke.

Let me explain. When you apply partial pressure to your neck, you're blocking off your jugular veins before your carotid arteries because the carotids are deeper and require more pressure to block. When the jugulars are blocked but the carotids aren't, this means blood is being pumped into the brain with no way out. This can cause aneurysms to form and burst, or cause strokes to manifest in other ways. My advice would be to not play around with that rope unless you're willing to CTB.

There are no risks with partial.
Have you read @Thanatonaut ?
In case you successfully block your carotid artery, you will pass out in seconds, then you have the risk of being found out, or your ligature snapping
HOWEVER, most common scenario, you'll block your jugulars and increase your intracranial blood pressure, since the jugulars are blocked but not the carotid. Blood going in but not going out. This pressure is dangerous (the classic head exploding feeling) and may cause permanent damage, for example tinnitus.

There is at least one highly scrutinized peer reviewed scientific study about it, and it says that being careful should be a priority, because it is a bad bad not good at all horrible and BAD thing!

You should stop immediately when you get the feeling of exploding head

I did it like 50 times when in most of them I had the exploding head feeling. Didn't do anything lasting to me. Maybe I was lucky.

I'm really interested in learning how partial attempts end up in Tinnitus though. I wonder if it might be due to neck injury
I never realized how sensitive the ear is there are actually hairs in the inner ear that can be damaged and cause tinnitus literally hairs not bones and if you want to know why you dont want to get tinnitus this man committed suicide recently he had 600 million in the bank but he couldnt take Tinnitus anymore -

Yes I'm terrified of tinnitus, I'm just curious of the mechanism by which a partial hanging attempt could damage you in such way

Tinnitus can be caused by brain damage. I got tinnitus from neurotoxicity via Botox. The tinnitus did not originate from hearing loss or an ear injury, but damage to the nerves in my brain.

Hanging attempts deprive the brain of oxygen. This can induce brain damage and, I would imagine, could manifest in the form of tinnitus. If the auditory nerves are affected, the brain produces abnormal nerve signals to compensate for missing input.

I've read neck injuries can cause tinnitus via nerve damage.

This is an old thread, and I am not sure why I commented here for my first post. Possibly because this is my worst fear. I've failed 4 times trying with heroin(essentially all fentanyl), methadone and benzos, due to my habit. I take copious amounts of benzos and IV fentanyl and cocaine frequently on top of daily dose of methadone. This alone, being imprisoned to a methadone program and being dependent on copious amounts of benzos and a POS addict, makes me want to CTB, regardless if all this drug abuse is just to cover the unreal trauma I've had since my developmental stages. Do therapist thinks that means it's easier or something? I have some diagnoses that come with stigma. I am not sure, which one(s) definitely apply to me, but I suffer severely with mental health issues.

It's time to get this show on the road.
