Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I've been attempting partial hanging by kneeling multiple times; although I've never lost consciousness, my head felt like exploding. Since then, I suddenly wake up at night feeling pressure in my head and unable to move. (Apparently, this only happens at night after having had an attempt a few hours prior.) It was scary at first but I've learned to force myself to sit up which makes the strange feeling go away instantly; having a reclined pillow also helps. Aside from this, I haven't experienced any noticeable side effects of brain-related injuries caused by asphyxiation (e.g., difficulties with speech, confusion and disorientation, or facial drooping).

Does anyone else experience this stuff because of attempted hangings?

Sevgeral people here have posted that they have attnpted partial between 15 and 25 times without it working. Why it works sometimes is not clear. But there may be a risk of brain damage I would think. Personally I prefer a higher percentage method.

Oh gosh that's terrifying, I don't know anyone who has attempted this way, but I do think the headaches you describe are quite concerning.. would you consider speaking to a doctor about this?

If your head feels like exploding the blood pressure in your head is very high and this can cause a stroke.

Probably not, but thanks for the concern.

Well from what I've read you need to orientate the pressure to the right of the neck to close the carotid artery for the quickest shut down. Also though it might initially be more uncomfortable, rather than kneeling, feet outstretched front might be more reliable.

There are two carotid arteries, one on the right of the neck and one on the left, symmetrically. For each brain halve one carotid. Thus the pressure to the front of the neck closes both carotids best. But you only have to close one, because you cannot be half unconscious.

You also for comforts sake need to avoid crushing the windpipe to avoid gagging reflexes and more flailing about which is why they suggest you focus on one side.

By self-experiment I found out that this is not true, at least for my anatomy and for full suspension.
