Supposedly there is this parasite called toxoplasma gondii that cause the condition called toxoplasmosis, it infects and live in your brain and when the right conditions is created like from weakened immune system, it can cause bipolar, schizophrenia, etc. You can get them from cats, undercooked meat , and unwashed vegetable. There is some truth to the crazy cat lady because my old manager was bipolar also and she has a cat. Make sense because whenever you have a manic episode you do risky behavior that either result in the spread of the parasite or death.

Theres epidemiological correlation, like "from the population that are schizophrenic, a higher % of them have been exposed to toxoplasma gondii, compared to average population". Its something.

No direct evidence of the mecanisms involved tho.

I dont have a cat, but if you have one you can kiss this little thing from time to time. The benefits outweights the risks

there was this crazy person who said cat owners are controlled by their cat, like the cat uses parasites to force the human to like them, the human then brings food to feed the cat
