To overcome your Survival Instinct.
Do you just need to practice or view videos of your method until you are comfortable with it ?
For example

Kurt Cobain repeatedly watched news footage of a government official who committed suicide during a news conference before carrying out his own suicide in 1994.

I don't know, I guess everyone is different, but I did watch a lot of videos of people hanging, to get an idea of what I could be myself getting into.
I think there are moments when someone will be able to overlook survival instincts, if the pain and hopelessness is intense enough.

I've watched videos as well. I know that newsroom clip you are talking about. It's extremely graphic.

Yeah it actually makes it more scary, but I think it's good that you understand what you are getting yourself into.

The problem with watching others commit the act is it scares me into submission - I've watched hsbging videos and I hate it when you see people jump, start to strangle and then reach for their neck as if ti abort the hanging and this is usually at least 10 seconds if not more before they finally release their grip and death takes over. ! It's also like jumpers who survived say the moment they jumped they realised they'd refrettted it !! It's kinda foolish how the body works when it comes to death especially suicide

Those 10 seconds though would surely have felt like slow motion and seemed like 30 waiting for lights out I saw the save vid think it's gone now

I went into freefall off the side of a building once. Long story, but I wasn't in any real danger, but my body and mind were convinced I was. I can remember looking around and then looking down at the pavement as a sense of acceptance came over me. In that moment I was ready to die. Looking back, I think it has a lot to do with my weak grasp on life as it is. There being little to no fight in me. But, either way, once I believed death was certain, I accepted it.

I've seen some people flirt with suicide; not really going all the way, but they accidently commit suicide, they kind of didn't know it was a succesful suicide, and I think in a sense, it's not a bad way to go. That is one of the reasons I think gun shot, N, and SN, is so dificult. Because it's not really like you can just flirt with it, once you take action it's serious.

Not too long ago, I decided to "accidentally" fall into a lake. I had it all planned out, the day, the time, my outfit, everything. Well, the moment arrived. I got out of bed, got dressed, and then...nothing. I froze. I wasn't afraid per se, but something prevented me from even leaving my home. This was my first encounter with the dreaded survival instinct. It really is something, we are all in a way fighting hundreds of thousands of years of evolution.

My next attempt will be different though. I have selected another method I have had experience doing before. Hopefully this time there will be no backing out.

What is this method you are hinting at?

Is this where you got your information from?

Seems pretty legit..

"So how does one overcome the natural instinct for self-preservation? In a word: Practice. In Joiner's theory, suicide victims literally "work up" to the act by getting used to danger, fear and pain. They may do this in a variety of ways over their lifetime."
