• Hey Guest,

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I would like to be an organ donor. From my research I'm pretty sure that suicide victims can still donate, but I'm running into issues trying to plan it out.

My chosen method should be fine and I don't think it will damage my organs. The issue is timing. I would need to make sure that I am found soon enough after my death to still be viable, but not so soon that they could bring me back. Any ideas on how this could work? And if not, is there some other way I could make my corpse useful? I've considered donating my body to science but I don't really know how the process works.

Organ donation and suicide is a difficult combination because of the time frame and the fact they try to keep you alive. You would need to be brain dead while your organs are still supplied with oxygen, which requires a beating heart. I wouldn't be able to think of a method that would work that way.
As for donating to science, over here you can contact medical schools and sign up for it. But you have to be over 55 and died of natural causes. No highly infectious diseases and definitely not suicide. Not sure about the regulations in other countries though. But usually med schools don't want to scare us students away during first year by letting us cut open young people or being confronted with suicide. Also in a lot of countries suicidal deaths will be investigated, so the body ends up with the forensic pathologist.
so, in my med student opinion, neither is gonna work out, sorry. But you seem to be a really good person for considering helping others and science even when you are actively suicidal.

I am also a organ donor. I don't consider that when contemplating methods however. I can appreciate your concern though. It's a good sentiment.

I am an organ donor for the event I am not taken out by my own hands. It breaks my heart knowing my suicide won't even be able to help a single person though.

I'm in the US, I'm not giving the health industry any part of me for free so they can turn around and profit off my demise.
