You wake up one random day and everybody who had the same gender as you is now dead. That means, if you're male, you're the only male in the world with everybody else who is, or identifies as, female. If you're female, the converse is true. If you're non binary, then everybody who isn't non binary is dead (I thought about you @4am when adding this option).
How would you react in a world like this? What thoughts would you have? Would this affect your desire to ctb in any way or would it be the same?
It's terrifying to think about that large of a portion of the population dying. I'm going to assume the other men just disappear so we aren't dealing with cleaning up the bodies.
Once I've processed what happened, I would probably think about how this is going to affect every aspect of the world - the electric grid, water services, waste management, supply chain, etc. could all be seriously affected. I don't know off the top of my head how many industries will have enough women involved or at least aware of the innerworkings of their particular office to keep things running while new women take the men's place. I mean if you have a factory and 80% of your workforce is men . . . there's going to be a lot of logistics to figure out. Wouldn't be my job to address those issues, but they'd be a big concern to me.
Then, I'll panic and realize how many friends and family members I just lost. Sore subject for me right now so I'm not going to say more than that.
Then I guess I'd realize that this means a large portion of violent crime and human trafficking will be at minimum greatly reduced. Hopefully there'd be a priority once everything is stable to finding the victims of human trafficking / sex slavery or other women who to that point had not had basic rights and helping to integrate them back into society.
The elephant in the room of course is population, and I guess that's really the point of the prompt, right? Well, I'm spoken for, but luckily all the guys dying doesn't destroy active sperm banks, so we should be gucci. Although my partner would probably at least briefly consider ways she could make money off of me being the only man alive, she won't share me. If things get to a place of somewhat normalcy I'll probably just feel really awkward out in public.
I can't think of too much else that would change my day-to-day after all that. It's not like the now all-female leadership of the world is going to call on me and say "Derp, we need you! Your penis is our only hope!"
Hopefully all nations decide disputes through mud wrestling competitions. That's my vote, at least.
