I've gone without for 9 months. I miss it so much. I had a bit of alcohol tonight but it's just not hitting the same spot. I have some cocodamol looking at me as well, but I'm resisting the urge. It's hard!

i understand

there's smart recovery meetings if you are trying to stay sober, https://www.smartrecovery.org/

i'm struggling myself. on the one hand, i'm tired of being sad, on the other hand getting intoxicated tends to make me feel much worse in the days and possibly weeks afterwards

Thanks for that link, I'll look into it! Yeah there are so many disadvantages to illegal drugs, it's just not worth it. The money, the health risks, legal risks, costs, social consequences...

I stopped using marijuana because I don't think it was doing my depression any favors. I'm glad it was easier to give up than alcohol.

Have you tried Allen Carr`s book?
Pretty sure can be pirated for free if you are up to it.

His method works wonders, completely destroys urge to smoke. All you need is to be able to read and thoroughly process information. No shock therapy, no fearmongering, no religious bullshit or other drugs involed.

I recently smoked again after about the same time being clean. Learned real quick that I only thought I missed it. I didn't miss the coughing, I didn't miss the phlegm, I didn't miss needing to take another hit. I'm going back to staying clean.

Good points, they all bothered me too. And I have a TONNE of reasons to stay off it. The cons of smoking do outweigh the benefits and I need to remind myself every time I get urges. The social stigma. The chance of police charges. The chance of psychosis. The damaging of motivation. The cost. But Christ, I miss the smell!

Yeah, it's legal here where I am so just smelling it out in public is always a temptation. I think that I'm lucky that drug use was a thing of my 20s. I don't really want to go through my 30s like that.

I miss it too but I won't be a slave to it anymore. Three weeks off of it. I was a heavy user. I miss the smell and I miss the taste but I don't miss spending all my money on a cope that wasn't even working anymore. Better to be just depressed than depressed and broke.

Stay strong.

I used to grow my own weed, so I pretty much had an unlimited stack available. I vaped every day for over two years. Before that it was rather on/off smoking here and there. The only thing it did for me was to bury my feelings to the point I got completely numb, it fucked my digestive system and appetite resulting in immense weight loss, I didn't have any motivation at all and was living in a dream world, I completely isolated myself and lost friends, and I made some really bad decisions I wouldn't have made in a sober state of mind.

Cannabis seems like a good friend to keep you warm and safe, but it's a trap.
