  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

First 5 days complete and I haven't escaped or wanted to leave. It's been an emotional exhausting but overall positive experience thus far. Thanks for all your kind messages. Perhaps I'll do a proper report if it when I get back just in case other people were curious about that sort on inpatient treatment. I mean, I have low expectations ration and am not expecting miracles. If I can come away with it with some tools to ensure that when I'm in distress my go-to isn't to self harm, get fucked up on alcohol or try to kill myself, I will see that as a success.

So happy to hear from you! It sounds like you have a realistic outlook on the experience and are working hard to get everything you can out of it.

Honestly, I don't really talk about this, but I love going to my psych ward. I always get put in stabilization, which is hard because that's where the most unbalanced/psychotic patients are but those are my people and I know it. I have had extremely spiritual experiences there. I swear I have. I get attached to the people I'm in with and the bonds can be very real. I can't say I've gained any best friends from there but I do have some real positive experiences. They did confuse me for my twin sister on my first 2 days lol tried to tell me I was her. Oh, their faces when they realized I was telling the truth! I've been in both state run and private facilities.

Is the food nice ?
Yes. Everything it fresh and homemade. We get choice of a cooked breakfast or something continental. Maybe 4 lunch and 4 dinner options on the menus each day and each meal comes with a dessert. But if there is something specific you'd like they will prepare it for your if you give them 24hrs notice.
You can also have food delivered via Deliveroo for example if you fancy a change. You can also have just food delivered from a store, I ordered things from Amazon prime like chia seeds and a very specific brand of almond milk as I like to make
Chia pudding.

It's bloody great this is of benefit to you. I hear such horror stories...but for once it's nice to hear something positive. If this is what you want and it's working, then more power to your elbow. Good luck and please continue with updates if you can.

Any update on this Emily? I am considering doing the same thing if I survive this weekend so would be good to hear of a first hand experience on what it was like.

Highly doubt they will keep me involuntary. It's a private hospital that charges £6500 a week. They can't force you to stay there as a private patient. Might be like that in your country, but a private hospital won't fund your treatment not can they force you to fund it.
I am not in a sectionable state. Very difficult to get sectioned in the UK unless you are a harm to others, which I'm not and have never been.
However, thanks for your insight. I already know the policy on chargers. I probably won't have my phone on during the day anyway. I'm not there for that. I probably won't use it until the evening if I want to make a call. I'll be avoiding social media that's for sure.
this hospital has various group work and 1:1 all during the day apart from meal times. I'm not sure what you mean by bored? My program will be flexed around what groups/treatments I find useful. Can you elaborate on this boredom?
I'm in the U.K. too and yes you're right. Regarding this subject. It is hard to get sectioned in the U.K. Tgey do do it if you're a harm to others . Which like you said, Your not a harm to others. I was in the same situation in 2015.

I voluntarily went for a week many many moons ago because my psychiatrist was, at the time, he head psychiatrist and wanted to monitor me to help diagnose my mental health issues and figure out what was going on. Because this was not a suicide watch which most admissions are, the stay was mostly pleasant. I went to group meetingevery day, they even took us for a field trip. I did arts and crafts and because I could afford it, I got cafeteria food and even pizza ordered in occasionally for myself and fellow patients . Watched movies and played pool. Saw a psychologist once who assessed me from a psychological (not psychiatric) standpoint. Had visitors (family, friends, recent ex-bf I was still very close to).
Basically I remember it being a break from the world with an uncomfortable bed. I'm sure it helped my psychiatrist somehow too. It was also a "nicer" hosptial and psych ward.

I hope your experience is similar.
